Ugly buildings facing 35 aside, the density of the Rainey area is jaw-dropping...and it's not done yet.

Wow, it's been a while I have driven northbound into downtown on I-35. Which other cities has skyscrapers butted against an interstate highway?

Houston?
Btw, I'm kind of bummed the way Vesper is blocking the Fairmont.

Dallas is also getting more towers along their highways. I-35E north of I-30, especially north of Woodall Rogers, is getting more between Victory Park and the Design District. Woodall Rogers itself has a few and will have more, and then I-345 and 75 have an increasing number. I think with future development, we'll see a lot more up there.

But yes, I-35 in Austin is strikingly different than it was even a few years ago, much less a decade or several decades ago. It's crazy.

110 in LA is pretty fun to drive. It's a little bit canyon-ish.

A neat example is I-5 in Seattle https://goo.gl/maps/YXUqHr9VVjuKxCw4A

I-80 in San Francisco too, though it's really only two towers abutting the highway https://goo.gl/maps/WL31nR3mF18QQTXz8

According to Vesper sales team,
"Major milestones are being reached as the construction team maintains progress at the building site.
The team has poured through to the 30th floor and are staying on track to pour one level per week. Windows are currently being installed on the 23rd floor as exterior metal panels are being installed up to the 16th floor. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing inspections have been passed through to the 15th floor. The elevator and structural steel subcontractor work is continuing as scheduled. Lastly, finishes such as doors, flooring and cabinetry are gearing up to be on-site in the coming months."

It's not zoned for that now. The big shame is that we didn't zone Plaza Saltillo like Rainey or at least like West Campus.

This one is leaving an impression on that part of the skyline more than I realized, especially when viewing from South congress bridge. It's adding a little height to that nice little cluster.
