A new hotel is set to open in Ottawa this month

Tourists and guests will have another option to stay when visiting Ottawa this spring.

The new AC Hotel by Marriott Ottawa Downtown is set to open on Rideau Street on April 24.

The 159-room hotel includes a pool, sauna, gym, five “naturally lit meeting rooms” and the AC Kitchen serving a “refined European-inspired breakfast.” There will also be EV charging stations.

“This hotel truly embodies what AC Hotels are celebrated for—sophisticated style, intuitive service, and seamless guest experiences,” Stéphane Pelletier, Regional General Manager of RIMAP Hospitality Inc., said in a statement. “We’ve curated every element to create a refreshing, productive, and inspiring visit, and we’re proud to bring this elevated hospitality experience to Ottawa.”

This is the first of three Marriott-branded hotel projects opening in Ottawa over the next two years, with the Moxy Ottawa downtown opening in early 2026 and a Renaissance Hotel set to open in 2027.

The new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa at the Rideau Carleton Raceway is also set to open this year. The hotel will have 150 rooms, including 22 suites, expanded gaming floor with 1,500 slot machines and 10 restaurants, bars and lounges. There will also be an 1,800-seat Hard Rock Live theatre.

Inspired by which European breakfast? Spanish, French, Austrian, and English breakfasts are pretty different from one another.

That could also just be code for your typical mundane "Continental" breakfast of croissants et café.

“This hotel truly embodies what AC Hotels are celebrated for—sophisticated style, intuitive service, and seamless guest experiences,”

Too bad it doesn't embody the better design and quality of other ACs.

I've stayed in a lot of ACs. They are at the cheap end. Slight notch ahead of Courtyards though our Courtyard is terribly dated and probably in trouble now with such a close a large competitor.

Never been to an AC myself, but Downtown locations usually look better than this, like the one in Montreal from Rimap.

Supposed to. Not sure what kind of timeline we're looking at. Maybe when they get a restaurant in there with patio?

As if we're all pretending the AC Mariott will voluntarily open a portal directly to the Salvation Army crowd.

I assume they will have to at some point. It's a public throughway. If they want exclusive use we should (or should have really) sell it to them.

The signage is branded with City branding?

I see there's a fence on the far side of these images. SO the Waller thru-way is technically 'Open' on hotel property. Seems to me the remaining depth is owned by the City? With falling down fences, there's a coupla safety hazards there that the City probably will continently not deal with for a few years.

I'm not saying its right. I'm just being realistic.

Drove by there after dark yesterday, it looks awesome all lit up! I know it's now the best AC out there but it has a great street presence and really open and inviting along Rideau.

It does have a nice urban street prescence. The parking entrance not being in the front but on the side and the small setback with a direct view of the lobby and check in are all great features even if about space saving.

Sorry for the lousy composition. But I had a thought here that I didn't despise this building from this vantage point. I found it tolerable and had never really noticed the vertical strips before.

Its the same angle as post #278 but you can't see that god awful podium.

I still don't like it.. but for one brief moment I kind of said .. hmph.
