It can't hurt... but no one will. We've been down this road dozens of times on this forum over the years. There's only a small handful of people who are actually active in the city. The rest are blowhards like Vin who complain on the internet but don't do a damn thing.
And do I have to boast everytime I write something to Council or the City, or attend any of the jams or open houses, or talk to City engineers/planners and design architects?

This forum is about skyscrapers discussions, and the policies that can determine what types of buildings that can be built should be part of the discussions. Why do people have to resort to insults when they don't agree with another? I really don't get it.

Jenga Tower Receives New Address and Open House Date, But Keeps UDP Satisfied
1515 Alberni (Formerly 1500 W Georgia)

Over the last few years, Alberni Street has seen major changes as it morphed into Vancouver’s new luxury street. Taking advantage of that perception, the street address for units in the Jenga Tower will be 1515 Alberni rather than the West Georgia address shared by the Crown Life Place. However, this is not uncommon for properties that have been recently rezoned. As the project is now at the development application phase, a return to the UDP was necessary to see if the project’s design details were on the right track.

Super stoked for this one.

UDP better just zip it and let this one slide.

What a brilliant architectural corner this area will turn into in 5 years time.

Thanks!

Not surprised that they have cantilever trusses for the protruding parts
- but a bit disappointed that the trusses are exposed (like at Telus Garden).
It messes up the aesthetic a bit (but allows views in more directions)

Still frustrated this one of all proposals got knocked down 15M, but I am loving the design still and really appreciate the developer paying the premium to go for low iron glass.

It needs some orangey-red accents like the original building has.

I don't like it, it looks top heavy and too busy, it reminds me of a lot of the older 70s and 80s built apartment buildings in the west end, they are extremely ugly and have aged terribly, this building looks like much the same.

I only approve of it because it adds height and diversity to our skyline.

Yes exactly re: the cantilevered trusses. Otherwise 'je kiffe ce bâtiment'. . . (Hey, I live in Paris, so it should be alright.) Anyway, I like it, and think that when the triangular one nearby
on Georgia, on the other side, is in, (sorry, can't remember the address but you know it) is built, ...what an entrance to the city right out of the park, before the Georgia hill.
Heading away, too.

Compare:
They at least need to use some fritted glass to add some opaqueness to the sides of the "tubes".

Still don't like the bowling alley effect of many of the suites - i.e. absence of corner windows.
Why live in a "middle" suite when its on the corner?
It's eliminating much of the value of a corner suite, reducing window area and potentially making the interiors quite dark.
(I'm not talking about the "tubes" - I mean the rest of the corner suites)

The roof shown above isn't even a roof terrace with seating/plants, etc.

I really hope that treatment is retained, looks like a nice texture.

Either way looking forward to see this one rise.

I also agree that it still seems so bizarre to have reduced this project by 15 meters... So pointless.

Ugly trusses: really disjointed, and what a stubby mess! The protruding parts are not even highlighted and elongated like the renderings. Now I consider this design officially ruined from its original taller version.

Totally agree with how it looks nothing like the original proposal. Although I still think it could end up being nice looking

I don't think the model does this justice.

I think with real sunlight and a bit more colour this thing comes out looking great.

This one is on the DPB agenda for next week.

Hearing that pre-sales will start in the fall. Construction start late 2018/early 2019.
