Bro, an arson fire would require a police investigation. That alone would incur significant delay.

Yeah, I can't get away with saying that word. Plus, my hat looks nerdy and doesn't fit right when I turn it around.

Is there any clue as to who may be managing the "hotel" portion of this project?

No, and it seems to be a fairly small part of the overall project with only 150 rooms.

I like to think that it will figuratively dominate the skyline. Or metaphysically...yeah, let's go with that one. Metaphysical buildings. We can build anything we want that way.

By gadfrey, drummer, I think you've hit the head on the nail ---- the Waller project is metaphysical in nature, thus we won't be seeing it manifest in the ordinary physical realm, unless we're under the influence of ayahuasca and guided by a shaman.

From the article I posted in the 70 Rainey thread. This quote is from Mac Pike about the Waller Park Place project:

“We will receive our site development permit in the next few days from the City of Austin which will enable us to finalize our plans,” Pike said. “We remain excited to get the project moving forward and seeing the Waller Creek project on its way.”

Wow, this is thrilling, we're almost certain to get the Independent, Austin Proper, Fifth and West, Fifth and Brazos, and Waller Park Place. Not to mention everything that's already under construction. Say hello to the new Austin. In 5 years this is going to look like a world-class city, and as the dust settles on all the infrastructure changes and repairs downtown and the new buildings become occupied, we'll find ourselves living in a city with a very walkable and vibrant downtown. Not that it isn't already, but it's been in quite a mess for a few years now.

This project is getting bigger. Here's a new article that quotes Mac Pike. The towers are now 56, 46 and 29-stories. It says the 56-story tower will be the tallest building downtown based on the elevation of the site.

It would be amazing to have not one, but two buildings that will usurp the Austonian. Austin will truly look world-class before the end of the decade.

The skyline will have that urban feng shui look with three separate high rise clusters centered around 650'-700' towers. Awesome.

Hopefully the 2020s (if not earlier) will show us our first 1000 footer.

I'll be happy for a long time if only the current proposals get built.

The 56-story condo tower may be in the neighborhood of 675' (based on a quick Google Earth assessment of the site. It will obviously depend on the final grading as the site varies from about 460' to 515' ground elevation. The ground elevation at the Austonian is about 477'.

The 46-story tower may be about 550' tall...

A couple of other things from the article...

The hotel portion has increased from 150 to 200 rooms, and there will be this weird pedestrian bridge...

So, I finally got around to reading that link Hill Country provided. Where exactly will the split-level restaurant they mention toward the end be located?
