Not that Toronto and Vancouver don’t have a lot to offer as a city, but there’s no reason gays can’t enjoy smaller cities like Calgary. Straight people do, so why wouldn’t gays?
Larger centers like Vancouver and Toronto have long attracted gays because in times when people were less accepting, those were the places that had significant gay population and thus kept attracting more - it was a snowball effect.

However now that society is more accepting of gays, and this continues to improve, you should start to see gay communities flourish in smaller centers across the country. I’m not gay, but I love living here in Calgary, and if I was gay, I would want to stay. 20 years ago however it probably wouldn’t have been a good option, but today, hopefully it would be.
You make some good points there. We are lucky to live in a country like Canada where this is possible. I could live in Calgary and be quite happy. It's great we have so many awesome cities in this country that offer something a little different in each one, catering to the diverse people we have become.

The route change that was made for the pride parade (reverse and start at Olympic Plaza) was the best thing they could've done. It was so cramped at Olympic Plaza. I remember one year doing overtime in the Calgary Public Building on one of the upper floors and we had the windows open. It was myself and 2 other co-workers and we heard all this music? We didn't know what it was so we went downstairs and didn't realize it was pride! LOL We took a break for a while and then went back to work.

If there is a decision to meet up (whether it just be the gays of the forum or the whole forum), I'm in. My good friend Adam (who is also gay) just moved here so it might be good for him to meet some people.
