The ends of the arch look great when driving down River Valley Road.

Went for a run past this yesterday... Judging by the angle of the base of the arches, seems like the bridge won't be as high as I thought it'd be... I thought it was mentioned here that it would approach the height of the high level, but it seems like it will barely reach the height of the lowest steel structure at the centre of the high level

I didn't think it would ever reach HLB heights - but will be higher (me thinks) than the current three arches.

Mid-end November is tempting the iceberg Gods though!

Unfortunately, I think this camera is only refreshed every half hour - maybe even longer.

I believe the top of the arch is just shy or at the bottom of the High Level structure.

Troubled bridge over muddied waters: Edmonton's Walterdale back on track

BILL MAH, EDMONTON JOURNAL
More from Bill Mah, Edmonton Journal

Work on the new Walterdale Bridge is back on track after a serious setback in the spring when steel arch pieces from South Korea failed to arrive on time, causing a one-year delay, city officials said Thursday during a tour of the site.

Workers have made significant progress and are about to reach construction milestones. Here are some of the major developments and what’s to come.

Q Is all the steel finally here from South Korea?

A All the arch steel is on-site. Workers are still waiting for some steel for the bridge deck and shared-use path. The deck pieces are being coated and prepared for shipping from South Korea.

Q What’s the giant white crescent on the south bank of the river?

A That is the central arch — the uppermost part of the bridge that will reach 54 metres above the water, as high as the High Level Bridge. Crews have been assembling it since the spring and the 950-tonne piece is now on the south side of the river to be put in place in coming weeks.

I was studying the photos and reread the article, apperently the partial arches on the north and south bank still need to be lifted onto the thrust blocks. So it will definitely be higher.

Parts of the lift could be worth catching, going to see if there are any decent viewing spots closer to the bridge off Sask Drive or River Valley Rd...

Project Update - October 26, 2015
Starting at 9 am on Monday, October 26, the North Saskatchewan River near the Walterdale Bridge construction site will be closed to river traffic. The closure is necessary to allow the bridge contractor, the Acciona/Pacer Joint Venture (APJV), to make preparations prior to floating the 950 tonne steel arches across the river.

River users are encouraged to enjoy other areas of the river by using access points upstream and downstream of the construction site, such as the Laurier Park boat launch (13221 Buena Vista Rd NW) and the Capilano Park boat launch (south side of river at the end of 50 Street).

The arch should be higher and bigger, so it will look better!

the top of the arches will end up being about the same height as the bottom of the high level bridge - so yes, i think some hoisting to do and i think will indeed be quite impressive.

if you look at the web cam you can see that the north end of the arches are being attached to one barge tower - i suspect they will float that out and then maneuver the second barge underneath the south end from downstream... looks like its happening fairly soon.

The height will be 56m or about 8m shorter than the high level

"The signature feature of the new Walterdale Bridge is two 56 m high steel arches (about as tall as the High Level Bridge)."

If some need a refresher on how the bridge construction is going to proceed and what the ultimate height and design will be, look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RKGLJFN3Ew
