it would make more sense if they were relocating the whole school to this block so they could move the school of education into the current business school and tear down the ugly building the school of education is in.

And that is true, the exterior of that dorm does look nice, but those buildings did not have the best of renovations to them. Although it would be nice and make more sense if they left the dorm building and positioned the new building along Mill, then sold the quarter lot and some FAR to someone to build a tower.

I know what would prompt mega waaaaaa: Having Cordish remodel Pioneer square!!

I'll assume this is friendly sarcasm and not unconscious projection.

ok, lets please keep it back on subject, shall we? The wa-ing doesn't matter, since we're all allowed our opinions, particularly those of us who have attended PSU.

Here's to hoping these projects actually come to fruition!

I was disappointed with this project before it started, but now I think I am even more so. Although it was fun to see how they transfered the weight load over the open basketball courts, but beyond that I am having a hard time getting excited about this building.

I half wish a more substantial building went up here, but then the plaza wouldn't get so much sun. If it wasn't for this being on the south side of the plaza, I would consider it a waste. I think recreational use has the ability to activate the plaza even more. Not my favorite project, but a decent one nonetheless. Not every building has to be so extraordinary or super tall. I think the variety of heights in a skyline give it more richness. Regardless, it's the ground level that people really experience and feel, and I hope this one is done right.

That was such a neat morning, with the clouds slowly rolling away to the west and the wind picking up after that morning shower. One of the reasons I love this town. Speaking as an (almost) professional photographer, this place consistently has some of best light I've seen anywhere. Must be the northern latitude.

Speaking of the building, I thought it would taper just a bit on the top two floors instead of being a static rectangle all the way up. Oh well, at least it doesn't have aluminum siding.

Yeah, its a rec center. It will have a natatorium, a gymnasium, and workout and weight rooms. Hence, a box...

Interesting.

That's the lot that is currently occupied by the shuttered deli/market on 6th & College.
