Cool videos!

I'm just amazed at how you were able to shoot that video driving backwards!!!

Oh wait.

Maybe you were in the passenger's seat.

<it was funnier in my head>

I thought this was pretty cool. This guy did a review of Austin's downtown Omni Hotel.

A time-lapse video driving down Congress Avenue towards the Capitol. The first part is during the daytime. It starts with a turn off Riverside onto Congress Avenue heading north. The second part starts a little bit further south on Congress Avenue and is at night. (the time-lapse part starts at 0:22)

Glad the guy liked it, but I kinda had to laugh watching that video. He's obviously never been in a really nice hotel room before. Welcome to a mid/upper-level hotel suite circa 1986 (Omni really needs a remodel, although it's cool in a retro way). If he wasn't so dang earnest and believable, I'd almost think that was a parody.

Seven minute Downtown Austin Helicopter tour by Perry Henderson.

uploaded August 7, 2012, so it's pretty recent. You can see the Whitley Tower & Hyatt Place under construction and he zooms in on the Riverview Austin Apartments under construction.

Austin is, by far, the most beautiful city in Texas and probably one of the most beautiful in the South.

Anyone know exactly where this was taken? The Zilker Tree with downtown behind?

Could it be from the top floor of the garage at that low-rise complex on the east side of Mopac that's usually visible in the shots taken from Barton Creek Square Mall?

Here's a photo I took from Westgate Tower a couple of years ago.

That floodlit white building behind the Zilker Tree is the one I'm talking about.

If not from there, look at the below photo from Westgate Tower taken in the daytime.

To the right of the white building with the parking garage is a low-rise reddish office complex. Maybe the photo you're asking about was taken from there?

(Note: in the second photo you can see the pole that makes up the spine of the Zilker. The top of the pole is just underneath and between that white complex and the reddish one.)

Yeah, I'm thinking that's it. I would really like to get over there for some photos of it.
