You should post some of these in the Canada section. It's always good to get some Halifax mixed in with the typical Toronto, Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver shots.

Just a random shot from Windsor Street showing Halifax's "urban highway" (Hwy 102);

This link was mentioned on CTV tonight...its probably too dark to see, but in the morning you can watch it. Apparently getting more activity than the Bluenose cam. The historic photos was funny.

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the buskers festival in Halifax. Each year dozens of acts preform all over Downtown with 500'000+ people flocking to the neighbourhood to take in the tradition (that is more than the population of Halifax). Every year since before I was born my family has went for one evening to enjoy the fun, food and fire throwers. I managed to snap some shots the other day before my memory card was full and since buskers cannot truly be viewed through stills I have a few short videos as well. I've thrown in some random shots from my walk downtown that include a couple of developments (to fit the focus of this site).

All photos and videos posted below are mine. Feel free to reproduce these anywheres on the Skyscraperpage Forum but ask before posting to external sites. As always these are a selection and more can be viewed in the Halifax subsection.

Enjoy

Halifax has some interesting areas and landscapes - but it has lots of room to improve.

Welcome to this forum. What city do you live in Vl@dy?

Thanks for your hospitality
Unfortunately i'm not Canadian, i'm italian (Sorry for my horrible english xD).
I live in a small town in southern Italy, called Crotone.
Halifax is too beautiful, and if it can improve, will become one of the most beautiful cities in the world . So, I'm not from halifax, tell me what to can improve

^ dudes right, it really can be with day to day improvements although it's impressive already. I can't wait to come back again...the city has such a "down-home" kinda feeling to it...something you bring back with you to wherever you're from

HRM struggles to figure out what it is: Is it a small region with down home charm or is it a fast growing medium sized region with a growing economy wanting to be bigger and better?

Some people get that it's a medium city (like people who propose many of these new developments and see a bright and better future with the region growing and embracing the past and the future.

While others, like the local heritage groups and some members of council (which will remain nameless) don't see the importance of the future, don't like growth, change and can't get past regionalism to get things done. They see something going in Dartmouth being just about Dartmouth and not being about better for the region as a whole or the Regional Core. To some, the combined region exists only on maps, but they treat their old areas of Halifax and Dartmouth as separate when it's all Halifax Regional Municipality.

There is still a lot of work to be done to get past the whole regional issue and many still don't get that the 'core' isn't downtown Halifax, but Downtown Dartmouth and everything inside the 111 too, along with Peninsula Halifax. Still much work to be done, but I'm optimistic that with new blood on council...they will find their way.

Yeah, I think improving the core is essential... especially creating hubs of population and services with good transportation links between them. I've been quite sarcastic on here lately... but I think critical mass is starting to occur. I think Kings Wharf will help spur future projects.

We really need to attract some of our young people back... and immigrants too.

There's definitely a lot of construction happening right now. A few projects on the horizon (Nova Centre, Library) are key buildings that will have a huge impact, at least as far as making the city feel bigger.

The idea of critical mass is very important at the neighbourhood level as well. We've already seen this somewhat with SGR. Once the total population and density are there it's possible to support better local amenities (e.g. Pete's) and a kind of positive feedback loop is created. Areas like Gottingen saw the opposite effect where people left, businesses and schools closed, and the area became even less desirable to live in.

Your explanations are useful, thanks
15 years is that I want to come to halifax and honestly I have a little fear. I'll be a stranger.
In my life I've studied a lot to come to your town, I attended the best universities to live a better life in halifax.
So I think that the city is one of the most beautiful in the world, but I also think that people who live there are great
