For the record, I’m still annoyed that the cache valley page is gone haha. I feel like there are almost as many Logan updates on here as there are Ogden. But anyways Logan is beginning to see an unparalleled construction boom, including decent-sized apartment buildings. I don’t think Logan even had an apartment building taller than 3 stories until last year (outside of USU’s campus / vicinity), and now there are at least 8 that are either proposed, about to start construction, or finished.
Proposed:
Millcreek Phase 2 -

The property will have a stream next to the sidewalk, much like the one in front of the conference center in Salt Lake.
This project is a live / work community, literally. You sleep above your workspace. Interesting idea, but I’m not a big fan of the design.

Not a fan of the mega parking lot this is going to make with the neighboring restaurants

Additional Renderings and Construction Updates:
Construction is well underway for the townhouses lining 100 E. but the apartment building has not started yet. I'm not sure why. The apartment building has also been reduced from 5 to 4 stories and oriented differently.

800 Block is being built by Nelson Partners, they scammed everyone who had a contract last year and I believe they'll do the same this year. people should stay away from 800 Block.
Are Logan photos a thing in this thread? Because I live up here and had no idea I could post Logan photos. Would it be permissible for me to start a Logan thread?

Thanks for the Logan update pictures. I used to visit family up there nearly every year but don't get a chance to go much these days. It's really growing up.
The In-N-Out on 400 and Main is just about ready to open. I couldn't get any good pictures because it is dark. While I was snooping around a security guard showed up and told me to stay on the sidewalk and that they would be opening this Thursday.
The article says: "No company executives were available Monday to comment on the closure, but the owner of the property, Dee’s Inc., indicated it will move promptly to list it as available for lease." So nothing yet.
My understanding is that this upcoming fiscal year they are seeking approval for at least the SER renovation, Huntsman Experimental learning building, Vet Med College Building, and Art Museum expansion. They may ask for more, unsure before Building Board meetings start up.
Here's a picture of the proposed business building.
Sorry, no pictures. I had heard they were looking for alternative locations after the parking lot controversy. Last week they tore down a building on the northwest corner of 200 N and 100 E, the permit info suggests this is the site of the new fire station.
"That space is in the former Macey’s supermarket building on 400 North, as well the recently closed Subway restaurant on west side of the block."
"According to the real estate agent for the properties, a contract has been signed by the home decor chain HomeGoods to occupy the west portion of the former supermarket building, while the regional drink-and-cookie chain SodaMix will replace the sandwich shop"
Hannig explained that construction crews are predicting having the new station completed by Aug. 31, 2023. There are a few potential concerns though with construction supplies that could set the production back
That's a pretty hasty timeline, however they built Costco faster so it's possible.
Intermountain has been moving very slow on the hospital project. Here's a picture from tonight.
I assume they plan to eventually replace the entirety of the original structure once this project is complete, they have been very vague about the whole ordeal. I recall the term "Phases" being used at some point so it's not a completely crazy assumption.

I am guessing it will be something similar to what they did to the Alta View Hospital in Sandy. First, they built a new specialty clinic, and then they ended up clearing space where the family clinic was and added a 4-floor clinic to the side of the 2-floor specialty clinic and a 4-floor addition onto the hospital. In the process, they removed a parking structure and some non-intermountain medical offices. What remains of the original hospital was given a facelift and a remodel.
Found a few renderings on Big-D's website of what appears to be the new CVTD base yard in North Logan. They were supposed to start on this in the spring so i'm unsure what the delay is, they gave a very non-answer when I asked about it.
Everyone who lives in the Cache Valley understands the frustration of having to drive through Sardine Canyon. Sometimes its traffic, other times its harsh winter weather. As the valley’s population grows, congestion on this vital corridor will as well.
The last regularly scheduled passenger train passed through Cache Valley in 1997, it did not stop. Amtrak had cut the stop in Cache Junction years prior, citing a lack of traffic. Now Boise and Salt Lake City have teamed up to bring back the Pioneer.
When this route returns to service, we must ensure that the Cache Valley gets the train station it deserves.
There are many ways this could work, the cheapest would involve having the train stop in Cache Junction. A new route operated by CVTD could serve the train station via Newton and Benson. Alternatively, with deserved investment from the state, the line could be connected directly to Logan by connecting and upgrading an existing branch line from Preston to Logan. From there new track could be built to connect the line back to Cache Junction.
Amtrak’s Pioneer is just the beginning. Governor Cox has expressed interest in a statewide rail system. Trains operating several times daily between Cache County, Salt Lake City, and beyond would greatly benefit everyone in the valley. College students wouldn’t have to jump through hoops to figure out how to get to the airport, the elderly wouldn’t have to drive to medical appointments in Salt Lake, families wouldn’t have to risk their safety on icy roads to visit relatives.
Sorry for the constant spam in this thread, I'm just trying to keep a record of happenings.
A big crane showed up yesterday, it's visible from everywhere in Logan. As of today steel is up. I'll refrain from posting about it too much until it really takes shape.
