It doesn't bother me if Sportsnet doesn't cover the CFL beyond the bare essentials of mentioning scores or whatever. Sportsnet doesn't really exist to me except for the odd time that they show a Jets game. But it is unseemly to me to have an attack dog constantly taking potshots at the league. It hurts Sportsnet's credibility far more than the CFL's, IMO.

Not to belabour the point but the Sportsnet bias was documented (especially by me) at the time. I did say that there was improvement in the few months before and after the Argo purchase. But previously, it was unnecessary and needless corporate bashing. The CFL has often struggled to survive, what motive would a company have to kick it while it's down, that's the part that gets me. Until this recent flare-up it hasn't been much of an issue but let's not have any revisionist thinking about the person the commissioner called "a certain member of the media"

I was hesitant about posting about this again because finding anything from years ago using forum search functions is damn near impossible but I figured I'd give it a shot. Here one to start with and maybe more to come when I find them:

Join the club: Sports giant MLSE announces deal to buy Argonauts
Frank Zicarelli Toronto Sun December 13, 2017

The end-game, at the time anyway, was the NFL and the potential of bringing four-down football to coexist with the three-down version.

When Rogers balked, the Argos were sold to Bell and Larry Tanenbaum as the team quickly moved into BMO for the 2016 season, the same year the venue played host to the Grey Cup.

Rogers has no ties to the CFL
, unlike Bell, which controls the entire TV pie through TSN.

It has always seemed to this observer that the unofficial policy at Rogers, and all of is media outlets and personalities, is to disparage the CFL at all costs, disregard all things Argos related unless it hurts the team’s brand.

That all changes now with Rogers now on board, a powerful media company that is sure to elevate the Argos’ profile, perhaps even convince soccer fans, which may not be so easy, that the Argos and TFC can exist side by side.

I am ignoring him going forward as its not worth the trouble and as you mentioned if you criticize anything of the league he just throws hissy fits.i doubt he even goes to CFL games or buys any league merchandise.

Madani is trash. End of story. He's an awful reporter because I have NEVER seen a positive article from him when it comes to the CFL.

I get it. Sometimes you need someone to call others out but that's all he does. His negative stance gets old, fast.

Great to see that!

Anyone recall offhand how sales went for the previous games held in the Maritimes? Just curious.

Awesome news indeed and please just a matter of time until Halifax gets a stadium/team.

From what I remember, the first game sold out at 20,000. The next game didn't sellout with a capacity of 20,000 and then the third game didn't sell out or had a tough time selling out with a capacity of 16,000.

Nice to see the game sellout for TD Atlantic. They were smart to keep the prices reasonable instead of trying to gouge the public.

A new stadium will be tough in Halifax with inflated construction costs. They wanted to build a 20,000 - 25,000 seat stadium (half of which was temporary) for $65 million 4 years ago. I suspect that would be $100 million or more nowadays...and that is for something that looked rather minimal to put it mildly.

Saw the seating chart for the Grey Cup in Regina. Prices are high as expected. Looks like an average price of $350 - $375.

Hotels are insanely priced as well given the limited supply. It will be interesting to see how many people from outside Saskatchewan will attend.

We have a group from Edm/Cal/Canmore who want to come, but hotels are either 'sold out', holding pricing that is outrageous or properties that are way too far away.

Frustrating.

There is another surprise lurking for potential visitors. There are almost no rental cars left to be had at Halifax airport this summer at any price. Anyone considering flying in should plan to fly to New Brunswick if they need a rental car to get to Wolfville.

I wish. What I'd give to go to a game and few nights out on each side down there.

Is TD Atlantic in Moncton again ?

9 proposed rule changes:
http://https://www.cfl.ca/2022/04/27/rule-changes-build-on-strengths-of-the-cfl-game/

Wouldn’t say I have an issue with any of them.

Keep things moving, add excitement and some common sense.

I like it

Most are fine, I question the hash marks one.

I like how having that wide area made the previous play have more impact on the next play. If you wanted to start in the middle of the field, then you should have finished your last play in the middle of the field. It only makes the wide side "useless" if you don't use it. I fell like there was some opportunity for innovative coaching there to better take advantage of that space... but I guess, somebody would have done so already?

And kicking is automatic enough (at short rage where this really effects the angle) that I don't think it really needs to made easier. Like, rugby goal kickers can score from the sideline, is 17 yards closer to centre not enough help?
