This one and St. Bernard Place are the two I'm looking most forward to. I hope they both start this year and go to the maximum height they're approved for.

This little nugget was included in Mayor Dawn Arnold's summary of the most recent city council meeting:

In Reports from Administration we approved a stop up and close on Main Street (for the 30-story IKON building),

I mention this only because it continues with the narrative that the Infinity Building will still be 30 storeys.

So that’s must be all the testing for the pile driving they did earlier this year. They must be done testing everything maybe it should start up soon.

Someone left this comment over on Retail Talk and Share NB group on Facebook:

“From a good source of mine I have heard that Infinity tower in Moncton is in a hold up. The reason why is because when they've did the testing earlier this year, there might be change coming for the foundation to support the weight of the building. And when I say that, is actually in a good way. The construction is still going a head from what I've heard and no change of height either. There's no news on when the project will start. But they're going full swing on the construction of the 3/6 Stories building in Riverview”.

If true, this is indeed very good news. I am more than happy to wait another 12-18 months if this means they can overcome the engineering challenges and maintain the 30 storey height of this building.

This would explain why they’re doubling down on their Riverview project

The amount of massive buildings built world wide I am sure they will have no problem finding a solution to any issues regarding the weight of the building. I agree that it probably could delay it 12 months or so. But we will find out I am sure!

Hrm, saw a link to this neat tool over in the SJ thread. I believe it simulates topographical views (and view distances) based on location and height.

Infinity View

In theory, this is from the top of the Infinity building. Can someone confirm that:

1) I'm using it right
2) You could really see a long way out the Petitcodiac River from the roof?

Very interesting. Assuming you input the proper height of the Infinity Tower, I would say this appears accurate.

Barring visual impediments such as buildings and trees, the Infinity Tower will be visible from the entire metro area, and, potentially as far away as Penobsquis and Grand Diugue. That's quite a reach! Although not entirely sure from looking at this image, I suspect you will be able to see the Northumberland Strait from the top floor of Infinity. You will certainly be able to see all the way down to the mouth of the Petitcodiac River.

It is interesting in that this building has a similar stature to the Infinity Tower (33 storeys vs 30 storeys), and, the video is also very well done, giving a good reference to the visual impact of such a building on the surroundings.

It is also neat in that the CBC article directly mentions Skyscraper Page as a reference.
