Seriously, that was fast!

Mayor Bloomberg had predicted that the subway transit service should resume in a few days.

However, the question everyone here on this particular thread want to know is: when will construction resume at the World Trade Center?

CarlosV, I am relieved that you are posting here! Have you experienced any power outages?

As the mayor had announced earlier today, stay indoors due to down power lines and flooding, so the emergency crews can better serve the city to a quick recovery.

It would probably take several weeks. Inspecting for damages, and clearing up the flood water, but it would be just fine.

I knew it would be resiliant, even before it was finished. The good news is, if the damage is minimal, it's in indicator of what the lasting nature of this building is destined to be.

I think we will know better tomorrow or the following day, I assume crews will be in tomorrow to start assessing any damages and will go from there. Hopefully it's mostly just clean up and nothing was seriously damaged on site.

I have very little doubt that the lobby of One World Trade Center looked the same, meaning that the entire basement would be under water. This is hopefully the most extreme disaster we'll ever see occur here. No pictures of the site are available at the moment. Hopefully the return of power will allow us to see just how bad it is.
Found a photo by the PANYNJ on twitter showing a location near the site at Greenwich St. and Albany St.:

Note: this is a picture apparently taken BEFORE the power failure, the water may have been higher.

Don't worry, soon the World Trade Center will have tons of backup generators. The original complex had like 6 of them.

1WTC flooding and other problems

The basement floors of the World Trade Center site sustained between 15 and 30 feet of flooding, Crain’s reported. Worsening things is the ongoing power outage in Lower Manhattan, which is obstructing the pumping out of saltwater from the site. It could take more than a week to get the water out, according to Crain’s.
Saltwater causes more damage to electrical systems than fresh water does.
Of primary concern is the underground equipment that generates ventilation for portions of the site, including the 9/11 memorial and retail space.
Fully assessing the impact of the flooding is difficult until all the water can be pumped out. But preliminary assessments showed that the site, overall, did not sustain severe damage. As previously reported, the assessment of the site is being treated as a high priority.
There is not yet an estimate of what has been damaged, or how much it will cost to fix or replace. [Crain’s] — Zachary Kussin
