One World Trade Center will be fine if Hurricane Sandy hits. The reason is all skyscrapers are designed to withstand the fury of the winds and weather these hurricanes bring. The Empire State Building for example was designed so it could stand up to hurricanes. It will stand. For example One World Trade Center survived the impact of Hurricane Irene. I have very little doubt that it won't survive Hurricane Sandy.

Yes, folks, there is a storm coming next week. But until it directly affects construction here, I don't want to turn this thread into storm central. Plenty of that on the news.

Everything would be standing, but the real threat lies in he flooding portion of the storm. All afternoon they have been talking about the the New York Harbor and what the "perfect storm" would do to the outline areas.

Hopefully the storm will produce some wicked weather shots for the WTC.

NY Guy, I respectfully disagree. We are all construction geeks and want to know what effect the storm effect will have on the building, the cranes, etc.

As I said, until there has been an effect on the building, there is no point in speculating about a storm that covers a vast swath of the country. This isn't the first major storm to hit during it's construction. If it is affected, I'm sure it will be posted here.

Yes, all construction has been suspended.

Which basically means nothing, since there isn't any significant construction activity after 5 PM on a Saturday.

It never ceases to amaze me that the new WTC buildings have great glass.
