I measured it this afternoon. The elevation on my drone was not completely accurate. I got to 226 meters, which looked like it was pretty close to the top (the height is not accurate); I then maintained that altitude and went back to the Independent, which was shorter.

I did not have the foresight to try and eyeball where the rooftop was at the Independent to guess the difference, but it is shorter.

I live out towards dripping and on my way in to town yesterday afternoon (headed to Pflugerville). It was pretty evident from Northbound mopac that 6th and G was the tallest building on the skyline at this point. You get the best look if you take the eastbound flyover from northbound mopac going towards 71 (Ben White).

I love it. We have a lot of skinny towers here. We need some monolithic structures here.

It's really misleading in certain angles, especially in photos. There are sides, especially looking from the east side where this tower looks fairly thin and sleek.

I like how thick it looks from different angles of the city. Shows what a behemoth this building is. Reminds me of how thick the Salesforce tower in SF is compared to the other buildings around it

My favorite part about this building is how it looks completely different from different viewing angles thanks to the asymmetrical setbacks and the angled glass. Traveling around it counter-clockwise, from the north it looks like a monster, more wall than tower, then to the west it's still massive but the angles and setbacks give it more depth, but as soon as you cross into the south-west that angled face just disappears behind the building and it starts to look thin and flat all the way around to the east, where the dominant feature becomes the bold white stripes running from top to bottom.

I like all the different views, but I like the top to bottom cohesiveness of the east side the most.

Going by those, they had finished the 59th floor in those and were working on the 60th floor. The southern setback is at the 53 floor - 655 feet above the street.

59/65 floors done? That means we're about to top out soon?

Probably getting close. With the crown, it’s probably another ten more floors worth of height.

I was going to say, I would have expected it to be taller than it currently is where we are at in floor count. Are we absolutely sure this tower will top out at 875 feet? It could end up being only 840 feet which was the original height.. We aren't even at 800 feet because it doesn't look much higher than Independent.

This is definitely well over 700' right now. With 5 more floors to go plus the crown? I'm assuming each floor is roughly 12'. That would make it around 760' once each floor is finished, plus another 100' for the crown? Sounds about right to me.

I didn't consider the crown being 100 feet. Okay cool. Now that picture above can see it is taller, from the south, it doesn't look as prominent.

I always thought it looked fairly prominent in this rendering. If you compare the floor that they’re on now to the image below, it really is only slightly taller than The Independent if construction were to stop tomorrow. Fortunately, there’s still some decent height left to go.
