1st tallest in all other US cities not named Chicago or NYC.

So basically not that tall.

Luckily they got the design right and it's not a box.

^ globally? no, not especially tall.

But it would be top 25 in the US outside of NYC and Chicago, which was the context I was responding within.

Right, my point was though that it's not that tall globally or in the US.

This was the perfect site for a 1300+ foot tower, I hope future opportunities are not blown.

Lake entrance angle will be a bit better I guess.
It will be really impressive right at the mouth of the river where all of the architecture tour boats turn around.

Appreciate you. I think as a city especially what’s going on we’re blessed to have something this tall.

Yeah - but would you rather have the Comcast Center or this?

This is a tremendous design.

Wandered around the area looking for nice vantage points. It's fun when a tower starts to pop up in little gaps you didn't expect:

The best terrestrial view of this sucker is definitely gonna be from Navy Pier.

I imagine once they get to the ~400ft mark and the setbacks begin, things will slow down a lot, since they'll have to change the form every 4 floors or so. There are some spots in this tower where the floorplate changes 3 times in 3 floors! I imagine that'll take a lot longer than this lower section.

Killer shots, everyone!

This is going to look absolutely stunning from DSLD/Navy Pier/the Lake.

Not to get ahead of ourselves but has there been any talk about what they will do with the south portion of this site after the north tower is completed if the second tower is farther down the road? Temporary park I would hope?

No idea. I'm guessing they'll just encircle that half of the site with construction fencing.

I seem to recall that there was going to be some kind of “traffic study” to determine the impact of the first tower on the area.

While the first priority is simply hoping tower 2 gets built, of course we would love to see a height bump to get this site the tower it deserves. Hopefully the upper end home market showing signs of life in the city this will help.

Have to wonder if the high demand for Class A apartments might see a pivot on that direction as well?

Off topic to recent discussions but I'm super curious. Does anyone know if Related, LR Contracting or BOWA Construction have a camera setup that tracks the progress of this development?
