Also, John or someone, I've been mean to ask about a corner in Holladay. The one on Holladay Blvd/Village, where there use to be a closed service station, with the old liquor store in the rear. Has that lot been developed yet?
No, it hasn't. The liquor store is vacant but the city at one point had plans to use that property to realign Kentucky Ave with Arbor Ln, creating an empty lot on the north side of Kentucky rather than the south side. I'm not sure if they're still planning to go through with it. The dirt lot where the service station used to be is often full of cars from Layla, the new Mediterranean restaurant next door, where Confetti's used to be. Any realistic future development would have to include parking for those businesses.

^ Thanks John. I guess, as with all good development, the potential is definitely there, it just has to run it's course in time. Once the economy finally shows some real recovery, I'm sure Holladay Village will be at the forefront of development projects.

More stores, interactive fountain coming to West Valley City’s Valley Fair Mall

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/news/52100191-78/valley-mall-fair-stores.html.csp

By Pamela Manson, The Salt Lake Tribune

West Valley City • The once-declining Valley Fair Mall continues to make a comeback, economic development officials say.

They say the shopping center, at 3601 S. 2700 West, is seeing more customers, some stores are reporting double digit increases in sales and new businesses are coming in...

The Dimple Dell tunnel is probably concrete. The rock texture is pretty realistic. I really like it.

I'm wondering if anyone knows what is under construction east of I-15 across from Thanksgiving Point. It's been going on for a while. Today I noticed serveral large cranes have been added since I was by last.

If you're referring to the property just north of the Highland/Alpine exit right in front of Cabela's, then that's the new Adobe campus (just east of the northbound on-ramp of that same exit). Otherwise, I'm not sure.

Chinese Heritage Gate will symbolize friendship between two cities

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/news/52170553-78/gate-chinese-heritage-center.html.csp

By Pamela Manson
The Salt Lake Tribune

West Valley City • A symbol of friendship between sister cities on opposite sides of the world will begin to take shape here next week...

...The result will be breathtaking, according to Ross Olsen, executive director of the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, where the ornate traditional structure will be built.

“This is an artistic gate,” Olsen said. “It truly is an art piece. It’ll be one of a kind.”...

Notice the other day at the former utah fun dome building theres a sign outside saying "bank own for commercial development" or something along those lines. Could the fun dome building be coming down soon? I think so.

I had heard that Ebay was looking at building a new campus. Looks like it's going to be built in Draper: http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=16915792

A rendering of the new 7-story Embassy Suites Hotel that I guess broke ground last month in West Valley City on 3500 South. Hotel to open by late 2012.

However I drove past that site the other night and the area is fenced off and cleared, but no work has started.

Interesting--not quite what I was expecting, but it should bring a lot to that area. Better than what's been there, for sure.

Unless, this is a data center, why do all of these software companies locate in the outer fringe of suburbia???!!!!

I'm glad to see some height and at least an attempt at some contemporary architecture touches ( the turn-down elements, etc.) in that part of the valley next to the center of West Valley City.
