The North NAIT LRT extension looks good.

Edmonton transit has always been a bit of a mystery to me. Are cities like St.Albert, Leduc, Strathcona County etc also part of the ETC or are they different? Are they part of a standard fare or are there zones or different systems with/without fare integration?

What's next for Edmonton LRT, are they going to extend the NAIT further north? I also understand there is a proposal about Millwoods LRT but that it would use standard streetcars and have more stops and far less exclusive ROW, is that true?. I hope for your sake it's not or your LRT will become a glorified streetcar like Toronto's Transit City as opposed to true rapid transit.

Smaller suburbs are served by ETS under contract. St. Albert and Sherwood park have their own systems with separate local routes and commuter routes into Edmonton. Edmonton fate is good on StAT and SCT (Strathcona county transit) within Edmonton, and a surcharge is required to cross the border.
StAT has a less expensive local fare and a more expensive commuter fare, which is good on all ETS buses and trains. I assume SCT does the same.

They didn't fit under a few key underpasses throughout the city so our next batch will have lower ceiling heights on the top deck. I think it will be around 5'5", but I'm not sure.

This week, Longueuil launched its first express bus service (buses 410/417) on the Roland Therrien Blvd. corridor.

It has a reserved lane over 5.2km. Traffic lights will preemptively change to green when the bus approaches. Departures are every five minutes during rush hour, and every 15 minutes during the rest of the day.

The plan is for it to be extended to St. Hubert Airport.

What ever happened to the planned Metro extension deeper into Longueil. That said, what happened to all the other planned Metro extensions (completed Orange line loop, Blue line extension and split, Yellow line extension to McGill)?

They say these projects might not be built until 30 years form now. I wouldn't expect to see most of them, unless oil is discovered in Quebec's far north.

Having said that, the current government is talking about a blue line extension eastward to Anjou as being the top priority. Maybe we can expect that one to be open 10 years from now?

Check out York Region Transit, the cash fare will go up from an already crazy high $3.75 to an even crazier $4.00!

Switching to tickets and passes? Wait, there's more!

Adult tickets will cost you $3.30! While adult monthly passes will increase from $120 to $132, a 12-dollar jump!

Those taking the express routes running along 400-series highways will have their monthly pass jump to $152!

The last page says it all though, when it is "proudly" comparing itself to the rest of the GTHA...

Wow! That's ridiculous!

I found Longueuil passes steep at $87 (or $3.25 each)! Despite having 400,000 people, it has over 50% more ridership than York Transit (which serves an area of over 1,000,000 people)...

For $121 we have access to all of the Island of Montreal (including the Metro), Longueuil and Laval, as well as commuter train stations in those cities.

Calgary is a pretty standard $3.00 per 1.5 hour ticket. Our monthly passes are pretty cheap at only (I think) $100. When I moved here in May of last year it was only $2.75 a trip though!

$106 for a student metropass in Toronto.. Calgary is cheap if that is for a regular fare pass. Nothing compares to GO though. A pass to get downtown from where I live would cost something like $320... mind you I do live 55km from downtown, but the minimum fare is $4.85..

Yeah it is for a regular pass. It is $94.00 for each month for a pass, just looked it up. It's really good, considering how extensive the system is. I do remember that when they raised the price by .25 last year for regular fare, they didn't increase the price of passes at all.

$4.85 is the minimum fare! That will take you from one of the stations within Toronto to Union.

From Aldershot to Union is $10 for a one way cash fare! This is about 55km, maybe a bit less. However if you use a presto card and travel daily the fare goes down to $4.92 a trip. Pretty standard for commuter transit I suppose - I was shocked to discover on my recent trip to San Francisco that it costs over $9 to take BART to SFO.

Nope, $71 per month for those under 19 or enrolled at Mac or Mohawk. See here.

For Mac and Mohawk students it's included in their fees.

McMASTER UNDERGRADUATE, GRADUATE AND MOHAWK COLLEGE STUDENTS

If you are a full time undergraduate or graduate student at McMaster University, or a full time student at Mohawk College, your bus pass is included in your student fees.
