I was in there on Friday and thought that they blocked the glass in for safety reasons. Don't want shards of glass falling in the mall area if something blows off the tower and shatters a pane.

It’s such a shame only the centre fielder gets that view. Ballpark faces the wrong way. Would have also had the train line going by in the outfield if it faced the other way

Ballparks are supposed to be oriented this way though. The line from the batter to the pitcher is supposed to face east due to the sun. I don’t think any MLB parks face point west like you are describing, except possibly enclosed stadiums.

Yeah.... baseball parks are generally orinentated so the setting sun isn’t in the batters eyes. MLB parks are supposed to have the line from home player through second base facing east north east. But I guess you could ignore that and make it so the most spectators have a view of the downtown skyline....

Orientation more towards downtown could have been made within the acceptable angle. Not due west but closer. It is a pretty wide range. You can find ballparks that face almost any direction. Whittier Park across the river faces the opposite direction and it works well. Look at the minor league stadiums in Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton. South west facing.

Would have been so much better to have the plaza and entry on waterfront. Instead of the back of the building.

With respect to Brizzy82 comment i agree TV, the orientation would have been really nice to have the skyline in the outfield. Do you think they chose that orientation bc of the parking location? closer to the box office.

Which orientation would be best for expanding outfield seats if Winnipeg gets a True affiliated AAA team in 20 years or so?

remembering back to when the park first opened, Pioneer Ave wasn't yet realigned with the new Provencher bridge, once the road was rebuilt the ball park was able to expanded the grand stands and added the restaurant.

^ That was such an awkward-looking configuration. But a the venue was a huge hit nonetheless... The Goldeyes played to capacity crowds in those early years at Shaw Park.

Artis should really have a construction camera for this project. Heck, their building is just next door. They can place it on the roof. I hope someone from Artis reads these. Anyone know if there might possibly be a camera/s in the future?
