What's going on in Vegas? Every major and local news station in Seattle was reporting of a shooting last night in the New York New York? 4 people shot by a lone gunman overlooking the casino floor, no fatalities. Worst, they reported the shooter was from Vegas.

I thought these Hotel Casino's were good at stopping bad information from getting out to the press? I don't want to hear about this happening, it ruins everything Vegas stands for, primarily a very safe environment which I believe it is.

I know a couple people like to jump from the high floors in the Luxor or even the Stratosphere, but those are not reported by the press but cab drivers or Casino workers.

I would also like to see some new pics of the City Center construction if any of you have any. I am a big fan of the pics posted by Mdiederi.

I am still a big fan of Las Vegas and the highlight of all my visits is the architecture.

I heard of a guy who was depressed and opened the window on the 20th floor of the Luxor and jumped out. Nothing was going right in his life and he just wanted to end it.

But not even this worked for him. He jumped out the wrong window and just slid down the side of the pyramid.

themed water rides; similar to those in Universals Islands of Adventure in Orlando such as Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls or Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges would be cool at Las Vegas Wet

Yeah, but the gunmen were quickly disabled by security personnel and the casino was up-and-running again with all dispatch.

Viva la private sector !

Hi Steve, glad you decided to join us here.

I think indoor, climate controlled swimming areas would be great for the colder months and the (tooooo hot to be outside) days.

An "adults only" pool (no screaming kids allowed)

A warm pool for those who don't like cold water.

Yeah, I read that the gunman was subdued fairly quickly by gamblers and security. My point which many long time Vegas residents know, big casinos have been very good in the past at making certain these stories don't see the light of day. In this case, it made national news including the front page of USATODAY.COM

I've always said that if there's a fire in a casino, pit bosses would carry the blackjack tables outside and continue dealing the cards. There is no place on earth quite like Vegas. When my trips to Vegas are over, I can't wait to get home. However, it's the only place I badly miss when I don't go back at least once a year.

I wasn't suggesting nudity of any kind, just no kids under foot.

that pool at the nugget is amazing.

Las vegas wet has to be able to offer something the big hotels on the strip cannot; thats what killed Wet and Wild. a wave pool, lazy river etc are just not gonna cut it. you need to offer the tourist something he/she won't ever see at the MGM/Mandalay Bay or Caesars Palace etc, thats why i suggest the theme park type rides as well.

Las Vegas Wet needs dangerous water rides. Instead of a lazy river, consider a raging 15mph inner tube ride that sends riders downhill over bruising bumps and quick turns. Maybe a slide that goes down 40 degrees for 200+ feet.

LasVegasWet.com says it will have a watercoaster and also that there is an adult area called "Hidden Riviera" that's 21 and over, has a separate entrance and European-style pool.

Which pool in town doesn't have that...?

What we need is for the adult section to have topless cocktail servers...

You want to get some traffic in there, that would bring the people in droves...

Back on topic: When will we get the next update on Crown Las Vegas??? I know there is a county meeting scheduled, but when is it? And, has anyone heard anything else on this proposed 124story tower/arena complex downtown???

It was in the paper today that Tao Beach at the Venetian is no longer topless, but that was topless sunbathers, not topless cocktail servers. Still plenty of other topless European-style pools around town.

July 17th was the last they mentioned, but they haven't posted it on the official calendar yet, but probably will this week.

According to this article http://cbs13.com/topstories/local_story_181155507.html "A city committee is scheduled to interview company representatives and review the six [arena] proposals on July 12 and July 13."

I just received five different "Application Information" cards from the Clark County Commissioner's office about projects around Sky Las Vegas. I'm sure this will all be on line next week http://dsnet.co.clark.nv.us/dsnetapp...aWeb/nofa.aspx but there's one thing that stuck out.

The Fontainebleau is asking to increase the height of its podium building along LV Blvd from 81 feet to 111 feet, from 137 feet to 164 feet along Riviera and raise the garages/convention center building bordering Turnberry Place to a whopping 215 feet. And finally, Fontainebleau is also asking to build a cooling tower and "acoustic screen wall" along Riviera Blvd that would be 26 stories tall.

No mention of raising the main tower's height from the planned 735 feet.

Other requests from Fontainebleau to build temporary storage buildings on the LVTI lot and to build a 2-story sales center across the street next to Sky.

Sheesh, the convention part of that podium will be almost as tall as the Riviera's hotel tower.
