its good to prevent unauthorized people from getting into a secured area. unless there is a crossover floor, its normally like that in all buildings.

i almost bought a unit in this building during the pre-sales phase, i am so glad i didn't...

Is that a public parkade that those druggies get into in the first place? If it's the private one, then Strata should fine owners who do not wait for the gate to shut. Some first-time condo owners or renters are simply clueless when it comes to Strata etiquette.

My guess it's a common emergency exit stair that starts down below in the private garage but comes up through the public parking. Theoretically, pedestrians would enter the stair and only want to exit to the surface, but the druggies have an unintended use. i.e. there's no door mid-stair preventing people from walking down and staying in the stair (the doors to the garage are already locked off). Even if they did put a door mid-stair, the druggies would just set up shop wherever that door is located.

What a shithole the city has become when shitheads are shooting up in a luxury skyscraper staircase.

In our building P4 and P5 are the residential parking and P1-P3 are public parking. You can access the staircase from all levels but you can only exit throught P1 or G. So the same could happen also here as well but hasn't so far. I sometimes use the staircase and it would be scary to run up to someone tripping.

Otherwise shitheads have broken into our building many times. We just had some asshole break into all mailboxes FOUR times, the last time being after mail delivery was finally stopped. They have now reinforced the mailboxes so here's hoping it's enough. Interesting thing is this all happening during night time in a building with 24/7 onsite security guard sitting in the hotel lobby. Those guys are totally useless despite cameras everywhere.

Life in criminals' paradise.

you got that right. i am so glad i got out of downtown and out of strata. weirdly, my SFH has been cheaper to maintain, even with big items, than the cost of the strata fees i was paying. plus it seems like 95% of downtown is now a shithole.

how can it happen with 24/7 onsite security? shouldn't they be doing their jobs? when i lived in strata, 1 guy would sit by the front entrance and look at the cameras all the time. then the 2nd guy would roam around the parking garage/stairwells/etc.

i think it is time to replace your security guys.

You bet the question has been asked by many in here. What is this security company being paid for when criminals play them like a fiddle? I could understand one incident but FOUR identical incidents in the wee hours during a period of just few weeks.

As I understand it, there is a contentious situation between our strata and the hotel on many shared things like security. It still makes one think if someone is being in on this or what is going on with so much incompetence.

i have always wondered how those situations workout with a building that's 50/50. it seems like it would make things much more complicated. the building i was in at the time was 100% condo's so that probably made things easier.

Many stratas, ours included, have had to add extra one way doors to deal with this issue.

Fire code doesn't help!

This building is full of bad layouts. This 1,340 sqft unit looks absolutely tiny with all the wasted space. Not bad price but jeez these units. Just how many balconies does one need?

does this building contain mostly weird floor plans? or is it mostly normal with some weird? because of the shape of the building i would guess many are odd.

You can an idea from the small diagram on the floorplan. I think every floor is unique but the SW corner unit seems the best one. That's too bad as the NW unit seen here is supposed to be the highlight part of this building but it seems to make for an awkward floorplan.

Would your square footage be measured from the mid-line of that 3 foot thick demising wall?
or is that fully included in the square footage (exterior wall)?

That layout would work for roommates who want to avoid each other.
There were some smaller units that were worse than that one.
