It's not a curve per se. It fans out though. There are a lot of renderings online which show it. You can also see it at this point too.

This shows what's happening a bit better:

The sides step in horizontally and are joined to a platform that has the appearance of a curve.

If you look carefully, you can tell that the platform supported by the fan columns is actually a hexagon with flattened north and south sides.

The "curve" is mainly the tabletop portion, or the base. The columns fan out to meet it. Basically, the tower increases in width towards the center, and falls back towards the Avenues. That adds a little to the difficulty of trying to get the whole thing in one shot.

I'm not an engineer, but I'm guessing that, combined with the fact that the building's height will taper on the ends and rise highest in the center, it also means less weight will be placed on the outwardmost leaning columns and more on the ones toward the center where the bulk of the building's mass will be. Thus the more vertical columns will bear more weight than the most leaning ones on the ends. If you look at the photo, you can see that the columns above the tabletop are thicker in the center and thinner on the ends, which is also an indication that the bulk of the mass will be in the center.

This is currently my favorite construction site in the city. They are up to the 6th level (of 60).

Great shots! Cool to see what's happening at ground level behind the fences.

I know you've shown us where the elevators are going - still not sure they're not going to use Star Trek technology and just beam people up...

I wonder when we will see the first glass installed - maybe late spring/early summer? Some depictions show that the very top (2 or 3) floors (parapet?) are clad in black glass; has this been confirmed?

Maybe they’ll surprise us.

There have been very few details released publicly. So we just have to stitch together ideas from the various sources we have seen.

I think the facade itself will be something similar to 425 Park…

The model showed some details…

And the rest come from DOB and city planning documents…

There have been alterations to the design, but it’s still the same building.

Quick aside: a classic scene from the 1970s TV show Taxi. For those not old enough to remember, Christopher Lloyd is Jim, a former hippie burnout who is taking a driving test in order to get a taxi driver's license. His friends are there to support him.

They seem to be protective "nettings" for the workers doing their work on the exterior parts of those columns.

Okay this building got to the stage where it's going to finally be fun to watch. That demolition and foundation work was time consuming but now this thing is flying up. Soon it'll be really tall

Agreed! My guess is it will rise by 1 floor per week. By Christmas, it'll be 1,000 feet.
