This is one of the fastest rising behemoths I've witnessed in my nearly 20 years here.

Yeah it's moving pretty fast. Before you know it, it will be just like it was always there.

Quite the interesting hoisting system we have here. I am sure the building is flying due to this setup. The yellow crane remains below the structure line and feeds the new floors with buildout materials, so the white cranes can focus solely on constructing the superstructure. Very cool.

The view from the observation deck at 1 Vanderbilt is going to be amazing with the ESB and Chrysler nearby. Possibly the best location of all the decks in the city.

I can't wait to get up there and look over the Chrysler. But I still think 30 Rock will have the best view overall because its centered in the middle of everything. You will feel like you can reach out and touch supertall skyscrapers in every direction.

^ The last four photos in this thread are probably the greatest construction photos I've ever seen. Right up there with "Lunchtime Atop a Skyscraper".

That squat glass lowrise/hotel(?) with the blunt for a chimney/whatever is a screaming insult to every structure around it.

That was once a beautiful old building that Trump defaced, much like Milstein did with 330 Madison. Both towers will be redeveloped in time.
