Let's not get too wrapped up in the memorial here, there's an entire thread for that. The sphere is relevant here as far as its potential placement on the Freedom Tower plaza.

Security Plan Question

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this question but,
After looking at the Security plan and noticing all the streets are blocked off with check points & barriers......What was the point of rebuilding all the thru streets?, I thought the point of it was to get rid of the "Super Block" feel the original WTC complex had. I can understand limiting vehicle traffic near the buildings but I had expected to see the streets used as a free & open walkways. They might as well have just built another Super Block and limited acess to the complex to 3 or 4 points of entry......"Freedom Tower" uh OK?.

Okay to answer a few questions...

1) The Sphere is an enormous sculpture. For the people that have never seen it you will have to go to Battery Park to check it out. One World Trade Center's lobby can never hold such a large sculpture and the nearby Performing Arts Center makes it harder. The only place it can be put on is either the Memorial or Liberty Park. I rather see it on the Memorial at the site Traynor mentioned since it's an open area and it is large enough to support it.

2) The World Trade Center was attacked in 1993 and 2001. I am certain with a 99.9% chance that it will be attacked again. So if you have any other solution that won't require heavy security I am all ears, but I don't think so. So the security will have to be there.

Now everyone needs to shut up and get back on topic and stop repeating the same questions over and over.

I'd LOVE to see it in the memorial plaza, alongside the Survivors' Tree.

YES!! You know what that "eyesore" says to me?

"SHIT! I took quite a beating... BUT I DIDN"T GO ANYWHERE DAMN YOU!!! I"M STILL HERE!! HAHA!!!"

You're damn right it belongs right where it once stood or close to it...

Ok, not to add something so that this post is back on topic... I saw some additional recent pics of this building, and I am caring less and less about the antenna/spire. It's going to be an awesome building when it's completed...

I agree there will have to be stringent security at the site at times given what happened in the past..So people will just have to deal with it. As far as an actual future attack on the WTC again, I don't think it too likely. The Police, FBI, and powers that be will be all over the site. Another plane attack won't happen. The only threat I see is maybe another car bomb attempt sometime, but I don't think that will succeed either because of past experience. 1wtc will be the safest building in the world.

That Black netting is just getting shorter and shorter. This is so beautiful

In terms of the sphere: I really don't care about the sphere,it really wouldn't fit in the current plan.
