Going to Food Basics makes me feel like I'm just a few steps up from a food bank

Adonis will be in direct competition with the FreshCo off MacArthur. Both chains offer a wide range of exotic products. My Filipino acquaintances in Ottawa are eager to go to FreshCo for their selection of fruits and veggies, even if its 10 km away. Adonis will be a big success with ethnic communities. Food Basic is more a discount store than anything, not exactly the same public.

Loblaws corp could start a grocery war by putting a T&T in the area

T&T is a very busy place for sure, but I doubt Loblaws will ever open a second location in Ottawa. If anything it’s their competitor Seafood City who will.

The demographic in that part of town massively favours Adonis. T&T, not so much.

Second store? Aren't there 6 or 7 Loblaws stores in Ottawa?

I mean, Loblaws Corp probably won’t be opening a second T&T.

I'm thinking Adonis will also seriously hurt the Mid-East Food Centre further down St. Laurent.

Could, but I suspect the customer base can support both quite well.

Calgary and Edmonton both have two T&T stores, why do you think Ottawa will ever get another one? The Costco site on Innes would be great location for one when it gets vacated.

That's still open to debate it seems. There's this thread, with contradictory details:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ottawa/comments/ccuc7c/costco_still_coming_to_shoppers_city_east/

I asked a Customer Service Rep at the Hunt Club Costco 2 weeks ago about the new Ogilvie location and she told me it was to open in the Spring.

Yeah, it's a bit strange that RioCan still has the property on its website but according to Juteau Johnson Comba March 2019:

Quote:
Commercial Land Sales
The most notable sale for the month was the purchase of 2012 Ogilvie Road. It was purchased by Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. from RioTrin Shoppers City East Inc. for $35,033,647 or $2,367,138 per acre.

I could see a second T&T further west. Maybe in Kanata. Not in Vanier.

Loblaws could do everyone a favour and open a T&T somewhere in Centretown.
