dont think so. They said a few stations on the EL were going to be the first to get them, don't know the timetable, its way behind schedule.

It's nice to see this and those other 2 recently proposed residential towers nearby. Temple should focus on getting as many students as possible on campus or closer to campus (especially east of Broad). In an ideal world they could close some roads to campus vehicles only like 13th for 2 blocks and Montgomery for 2 blocks. Rip up the asphalt for pavers and make a true campus.

Speaking of diners, the Melrose is currently being demolished. Probably a good assumption that the by-right project on the Broad Street Diner won't start until the owner gets finished with the very similar project at the Melrose.

A little digging traces the registered address of 1145 BROAD ST LLC to a property owned William V. Bonporte. Bill Bonporte is one of the partners in the Green Eggs restaurants.

Additionally, in the reader comments under a Hidden City article from 2011 (the comment added in 2019), someone named Head Egg wrote: “I’m with you both ……….. It needs to be saved. So much so, I bought it in December!”

NICE, I've been admiring this for one for years. The permit also lists a first floor restaurant space. Hopefully they can restore and incorporate the signage.

I think Domus built the 777 S. Broad building, maybe 10 years ago, and built it in a similar fashion. Just looks like a tinder box waiting to erupt.

$50 Million Grant Will Reshape Bartram’s Village in SW Philadelphia

A $50 million grant has been issued to upgrade the site, completely transforming the urban-renewal style complex into something that looks more like Northbank than public housing. While this is just one step in the project, that overall goal is to add more than 600 total units, with 500 being earmarked as affordable. This is still very much in the planning stages, but the transformation that we could see here is wildly exciting, as WRT’s plans for the Bartram Choice neighborhood are looking pretty darn good from where we sit.

The design specifics are likely to change as the plans materialize, but this direction is certainly exciting. And this isn’t the only action happening close by, as the Lower Schuylkill Biotech Campus has plans for a life science future on both the northern and southern sides of Bartram’s Garden.

One proposal that has always stood out for its approach and design is FloatLab, the futuristic floating science center that would sit on the Schuylkill River at Bartram’s Garden. This neon design would glow at night, offering a fish-eye view of the surroundings. Plans call for this design from Höweler + Yoon Architecture to be finished in the next couple of years.

Pretty exciting, huh? And what’s even more exciting is that all of this action in SW Philly will soon have a direct connection to Center City, thanks to the upcoming bicycle and pedestrian trails that will tie the area together.

So Long, Stadium? Media and Performance Center Planned for Temple

Temple has brought on international-powerhouse SOM to design a sexy new complex which would bring together the currently scattered facilities of the Klein College of Media and Communication and the Center for the Performing and Cinematic Arts.

Not only is this facility a huge boost to both of these organizations, but the design itself is striking, extending the pedestrian walk under and through the building while creating an archway that expands this central corridor. The stacked massing is both playful and classy, with the random floorplates creating a distinctly modern look. Glazing surrounding the majority of the building connects the inside with the exterior, offering glimpses of the bustling Broad Street to those inside while showcasing student work to passing pedestrians.
