I like ABJ's Crane Watch tool but they do a terrible job at keeping it updated. I'm sure they could outsource it to this forum and it would be done for free

A fellow forumer showed me the posts asking about me so I wanted to chime in and say hello and that I am doing well. It's been an interesting year to say the least and we still have a couple more months to go.

I hope everyone is doing great!

You're right. It is bad. All they have to do is use this forum for basic research.

If UT buys (or already owns?) the adjacent half block to the south of Dobie, they'll be able to incorporate the entire Guadalupe/MLK southeast corner into the campus. That's probably something they've wanted to do for a while now. Wonder whether the Dobie tower will survive into the future. It would make a hell of an implosion. https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2828...!3m1!1e3?hl=en

Currently in Pittsburgh. You all would love it here. Staying downtown. Walking around Point State Park, this town is truly amazing.

I can’t wait till Austin has the density of the Burgh.

I attended convention there pre-COVID and really enjoyed myself -- even though it was the dead of winter.

Those pre-automobile cities just hit differently.

Oh I LOOOOVE Pittsburgh. Have fun! It's such a lovely non-fussy city. I have many fond memories walking along the allegheny and exploring. Pennsylvania is such an interesting state...err commonwealth.

Also, hiya Jdawg and hugs/high fives to all y'all

Have y'all seen the new wish list for Zilker Park from SOS?

https://www.kxan.com/news/local/aust...f-zilker-park/

Full report (listed on article) can be found here.

Not sure that this is at all feasible for Zilker Park, but I'm typically all for natural areas. I think Zilker's use for the city makes this plan a bit of a pipe dream in its current state.

The presentation seems a little misleading, talking about "rewilding 75 of 350 acres". The issue is that a lot is already "wild" or close to it.

The actual usable area for events seems like it would be reduced to a small minority of the park.

https://www.sosalliance.org/uploads/...21_reduced.pdf

page 10

and I'm not sure where 75 even comes from, page 33 says 80 acres.

Edit/Add: I will say the "Green Parking Woodland" seems potentially promising, for those areas that are mostly just parking already.

Though they only call for 3 acres of that, and it seems to be entirely missing from the map on page 33

Yeah, that's what I took from it as well. Basically they want it turned into undeveloped land that isn't available to the public in any way.

Shocking coming from SOS and the neighborhood associations. Really, I cannot believe that the Barton Creek Neighborhood Association, Zilker Neighborhood Association, and Bouldin Creek Neighborhood Association would ever want that

The ABJ posted an article about what's next for Austin's skyline. This is another cringe worthy article because they just don't pay attention to us at SSP. They list Symphony Square as a possible "next round" high-rise project. Never mind that it's already U/C. They didn't even mention our supertall that is close to approval and has had recent site prep.

It's really amazing that this forum doesn't get more attention. We're literally bursting with high quality information and rumors.

On top of that, don't forget the occasional irresponsible speculation and Utopian pipe dreams! Not that I've ever done either of those...

That's a good thing. Nothing irks me more when people try to get reddit users over here.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but is there a similar forum for Dallas, Ft Worth, El Paso, etc? I remember that Skyscraper City had some, but they don't seem to be updated that often.
