Last column is change in overall NHL standings from December 4...

Code:
15 Montreal 30 16-11-3 35 9 -10 -3
17 Edmonton 31 14-11-6 34 9 -4 +9
19 Toronto 30 14-11-5 33 10 3 +7
23 Ottawa 30 14-12-4 32 10 -3 -8
28 Winnipeg 30 14-15-1 29 12 -4 -4
31 Calgary 32 12-16-4 28 10 -14 +1
32 Vancouver 31 11-17-3 25 7 -24 -2
While it seemed like a good week with Edmonton and Toronto picking up places and Calgary going 3-1 since the last standings check in. Overall the average place actually dropped by a bit and still only one team making the playoffs, albeit Edmonton instead of Montreal now.

Edmonton might be reasonable now that Hyman appears to be figuring things out again after coming back from a very extended injury.

List of players McDavid has passed in career points this year...

Theoren Fleury
Glenn Anderson
Frank Mahovlich
Darry Sittler
Joe Nieuwendyk
Mike Bossy
Bernie Federko

Mike Bossy was a beast. 1126 points in 752 games. Only 9 games more than McDavid has played.

Skinner is out of Edmonton and Jarry is being brought in. Will be interesting to see if he's consistent / better than Skinner or if it's more of the same (which would be bad, considering he's more expensive than Skinner, and older).

Canucks are in full rebuild. I'm not sure they had a choice. It sucks when your best player isn't going to resign.

Buium playes just like Hughes and has a goal in his first game.
It's almost like he's no longer missed lol.

Oilers lay an egg starting with no goals on a full 2 min 5 on 3.

Then went to bed.

Pickard good, but had zero support.

^ Best Habs game of the season. Dobes was very good.

Let’s see how the 3 goalie situation develops with the Habs.

Meh. They played a 6-3 win against Toronto the night before, it's not an overly surprising game to lose. They had some opportunities and the misread between McDavid and Hyman was costly.

The Habs had a back to back over the weekend as well, including a travel in between from NY to Montreal, same as the Oilers.

or the point is that Toronto sucks and the win should of been more convincing to be at the Habs' level.

It wouldn't go so far as to say just like Hughes, but what Buium did in college is extremely impressive. His point totals in college are up there with Hughes, Makar, Hutson, Fox, etc. In fact, he holds the NCAA freshman record for points, which is even more impressive, because he set that record before he was even drafted. His ceiling could be very high. And he is good defensively.

Obviously Minnesota got a great player, but the Canucks made out pretty well here as well. It adds a lot to our Rebuild/retool. Buium just turned 20 a few weeks ago. Rossi is only 24, and a 60 point 2c, plus a first round pick. Ohberg is a project, but the Canucks get much younger.

I'm in tank mode now that Hughes is gone, so I hope they continue to lose. My first choice would be Stenberg, but McKenna or Lawrence would be a good consolation prize. We have some good all star/elite potential level players, but still need that superstar level franchise player, hopefully in this draft.

^ Rossi is a solid player for sure. The Wild swinging for the fences in a season when within their own division the Avs are an absolute machine and Dallas keeping pace... is a bit of a headscratcher.

4 first rounders for a guy who isn't even signed into next season.

Good night for the Flames - they lose to SJ and the Canucks win.
It’s weird cheering for this race to the bottom but a good year to do it.

Jarry wins an ugly goaltending battle in Pittsburgh against his former team.

Okay, the actual story is congratulations to Draisaitl on 1,000 (actually 1,003) points and the first German player to do so.

Jarry looked ok, Skinner less so, but our offence was on last night.

4 pts each for 29 and 97!

It was nice to see 97 tap 74s pads as he skated off the ice.

Ahh so funny seeing this from Flames fans who were like we'd never be happy to see our team lose, like some oiler fans were during the decade of darkness.

Again, it's the way the Oilers did it year after year after year that we mocked. Like I said before, if we are still here in 5 years then no Flames fans will be happy. This is a deep draft coming up so this is the year to do it, with the goal of being competitive once we are in the new building in 2 seasons time.
