You're definitely almost entirely on your own on this one. Mostly everyone here is a fan of the CVC.

Some have argued what is in some cases being too excessive, and I think does hold some merit, is how certain projects have stalled in the past because they went just a few feet over the CVC permitted height, which is what happened with Gables Park Plaza from my recollection. But overall, we're in favor of it.

That's an example of someone not staying within the legal parameters and thereby disqualifying themselves. It's their fault, not the CVCs'. I think the CVCs are great in many ways. One way that's not talked about much is that all the apartments and offices in buildings with a wall along a CVC will never have their views blocked by a building right next door.

Another thing is that it will make for some cool drone shots (which I'm going to request).

Without CVC's, Austin would not have the skyline it does today nor would we be here discussing supertalls.

I like the CVC's and would actually be in favor of a couple UT Tower View Corridors.

I wish we could go back in time and setup the CVCs more symmetrically. I wish they were more star-patterned like a compass. North, South (down Congress), East, West...throw in NE, SE, NW and SW. That's it.

^^ That would be interesting. Similar to how D.C. was originally designed with the street layout.

That said, I agree with some of the comments above. It's allowed us to have some uniquely shaped buildings that aren't simple boxes (or at least some of them, since we do, indeed, have many simple boxes as well). However, I also agree that several of the ones to the East can go away and never return. Won't happen, of course. Especially if Austin becomes a District.....

Damnit! I was contemplating making an Eckards joke, but I assumed no one would know what I was talking about.

That part of the process was over months ago. It's approved for demo.

FAA permits were filed for the building. The 1,035' announced building height is confirmed in the filings.

Looks like it’s possible! If they follow through with their construction timeline from the FAA filing this will be completed by summer 2026-Waterline’s scheduled for late 2026 completion.

The odds that Austin would get even one 1,000+ tower were slim.

Two,...beyond real believability.

Now debating which might come online first...astonishing!

Okay, I Am Bored. Where is the triad announcement?

We still have the post office site to consider as a possibility given it's unrestricted in terms of height.
