The design is similar to the Harbour Plaza development at York/Harbour in Downtown Toronto. If you look up that development, you'll notice the same exact 'ripple' design lol.

The rumor for a while was that Sonoma was looking for a larger developer to help them build this project. I'm wondering if that's still the case?

I wouldn't call this a "game changer", but it's definitely different.

Like any project in our city, wait until ground breaks on a project before getting too excited about a particular development. This development has gone through a major change from the original renders and proposal. Until I see site works begin, I will be pessimistic about this project.

I want it to happen, but I'm also being realistic. That area needs residential badly and a higher-end product like this would be an incredible thing for that area and the rest of Downtown. It would be a welcome addition to the other group od developments currently under construction and approved.

Apparently this land is for sale.

Also could we keep the address in the title as well as the name? Sometimes I forget the name or the address, and it makes it harder to find back when it's gone without an update.

As David said, it looks like they upzoned it then decided to sell it. Kind of scummy thing to do.

Very common thing in the development world. Wouldn’t think too much of it.

I'm going to be optimistic, maybe the next design will be even better.

How is this scummy? We don't know what happened?
Business case didn't materialize? Someone died? New opportunity they couldn't pass up came along?
Or perhaps they did just update the zoning to sell.
They did it completely within the city's guidelines and regulations, even lowering their height to comply with the city.
There's not a single thing scummy about that.

Well that's super disappointing... well I guess we can all hold out hope that the next proposal is legit and even better and hopefully taller!

this is disappointing. And Farr raved about how this was a game changer. I doubt the next will be taller or as good looking. I would take something similar to the Ripple with a post-post-modern arch. The skyline would definitely have improved greatly with this and there is a hole in the skyline there between C21 and First Place.

The bus shelter portion of this property has been fenced off this morning and there's a crew on site with a decent sized excavator. Any ideas as to what they're working on?
