Yeah, the material is the most important factor there. Stone all the way up would look pretty cool, I think. Break up the glass.

I hope this one survives. All along I've liked the direction the design has gone. And the materials are a bit of a break from what we've been getting for the last decade and a half.

I take this to mean that construction starts sometime between Q3 2022 & Q3 2023.

I like mostly everything about it except that big pillar of poverty siding/cement.

JK I almost entirely dislike it.

This thing has been such a disappointment. When I was working at Hilton, upper management was absolutely sure this was going to be another Hilton property, and that it was only a matter of time before it kicked off. I have to assume the pandemic completely fubared the plans, though I'm not sure exactly why. Funding for new hotels has remarkably NOT dried up -- at least up till this point -- and Hilton is as hungry as it ever was to get into this market (cf. Conrad, Embassy Suites/Motto, etc). So it has to be a hold up with the builder, but . . . man, who knows. So hard to say. Still a great spot for hotel, no matter what.

It's on the edge of entertainment districts, UT campus - medical school and stadiums, the capitol complex. It's really hard to imagine a really big hotel not working there.

Is this project on the same piece of land where Waterloo Park Central is being proposed?

It's on the same block as the south tower of the Waterloo Park Central project:

A Design Submission was filed today for this site for a high rise hotel. Not sure what that means for this project as it stands now.

It looks like it is just for the electrical feed design. That is a good indication that it is inching closer to construction.
