What's being constructed there...I seem to have forgotten?

Not much change, but the plan is a little more detailed. The standalone pad out front with the drive-thru is no longer listed as a KFC. There is no mention of Pita Pit on the site plan, but then again no businesses are listed at all……..

I walked by the two six-story apartments built on Gauvin last year a couple nights ago and noticed that they have cleared the lot and put the frame up for a sign next door. I know the plan for that project was for three buildings, but I haven't heard anything about them moving forward with that.

The old Kent on Champlain is starting to come down. The back part of the building has already been dismantled.

This statement will make me sound like an old fart, but I remember when they built that Kent store, over 25 years ago...wow time flies!

Does anyone know if JDI sold the land, or what the replacement is to be?

I'm speculating Staples is going to achor phase 2. They have been reducing their footprints and number of cooperate stores and have a great working relationship with Plaza REIT (PlazaCorp). Also hearing that Pita Pit is going to be a tenant.

Any other words on potential tenants?

I have thought of a way to solve the airport interchange problem:

Along with this, you could build an overpass at the exit to the airport parking lot. Have it go straight across the highway, then connect it to the new road thats coming off of Harrisville, parallel to the highway. Thoughts?

That's exactly what the city plans on doing, actually, or so I'm told. Aviation will eventually go all the way to Champlain and there will be some kind of interchange with Rt 2 between the cloverleaf and the one at Champlain/Rt 2

I'm pretty sure the newly extended runway overlaps with your blue-colored road.

An overpass on route 15 would be needed first for sure.

This is a great idea. Imagine how busy that road will become! The airport will almost have direct access to the Trans Canada then! I think it should be that close to the current 2/15 interchange tho, if it is to far down aviation blvd. you risk it being under-utilized.

Yes, there was some road network projection map for the city on here some time ago that showed Melanson street extending past Champlain and up to an exit at highway 2.

I can't seem to find the map. Anyone have a copy of it?

Drove by this area last night and some of the houses have been torn down. The remaining buildings are empty so they must be next.

This is the map you are looking for, Josh. It's from '08, so some of this may have since changed.

The new Subaru dealership on Aviation Avenue is going up right next to Malley Industries. There is a lot of earth moving going on right now.

The dealership will have great visibility from the 15/2 cloverleaf.
