Couple photos of the construction at 401 and 4, one showing the 4 work and the other the new Glanworth Dr overpass being built. Can't remember when I was last over here because I was surprised to see progress this far along. I think most of my trips to and from St Thomas recently have been no further west than Wonderland, but mostly the more easterly routes.

401 eastbound has now shifted over to the middle section across the CN and Pond Mills overpasses and the highway is 2 lanes each way. I went through about 4pm today and it was flowing fine but I suspect there will be some times this backs up pretty decently. The former eastbound lanes have already been ripped out and I suspect after next week when Pond Mills Rd is closed that it won't be long before those remaining old overpass structures are dismantled.

Signs up for the 401 to be closed between VMP and Wellington Monday April 28 overnight into Tuesday morning, presumably for installation of bridge spans at Highbury. Seems odd to me to close it on a Monday night for that.

A few drone shots today showing the demolition of the remaining sections of the CN and Pond Mills overpasses as well as Highbury overpass progress.

The new beams on the eastbound side were placed over Pond Mills Rd on Thursday. I didn't happen to notice if they have been done over the railway tracks yet, although based on my photos from a couple weeks ago, I would say they haven't progressed far enough yet to put them in.

I think they are being built to be able to be 10 lanes wide in the future. I doubt the highway will actually be that wide anytime soon, but I think they plan to have a continuous extra lane each way between Highbury and Wellington after. Pond Mills would also have the ability to be widened to 4 lanes under the highway if that need was ever deemed necessary.

Djeffery is correct... the 401 will just have 3 through lanes in each direction (as it exists today)... but there will be a fourth continuous lane.... I found this from a notice that was posted when construction began.

• Addition of continuous speed change lanes between the Highbury Avenue westbound on-ramp and the Exeter Road westbound off-ramp, and between the Wellington Road eastbound on-ramp and the Highbury Avenue eastbound off-ramp

The new Colonel Talbot - 401 overpass bridge deck is nearly ready for the concrete pour as most of the steel rebar is now setup.

MTO has been making progress removing the center barrier from just east of Wellington to now east of Highbury. Crews have steadily been cleaning it out.
