wow, the downtown waterfront area looked quite different then, even if it was only 8-10 years ago

Wow great find. Would've certainly of been a different Robson St today if that happened. Eerie how perfectly it lines up.

Remember that the old Connaught (Cambie) Bridge used to run into Robson (as shown) - so Robson used to be busier at the BC Place end than it is nowadays.

Note the "Oak Street Extension" - connecting the two parks.

And False Creek was narrowed to a shipping channel with turning basins.

I'm thinking that the Burrard Bridge was built at a different angle than shown, because the Kitsilano Trestle is shown directly below the bridge, rather than to the east.

City of Vancouver still has plans on their books for a 'Kingsway Extension' that would continue the Kingsway diagonal from Main @ 7th to Quebec @ 5th Ave. This is supposed to give Quebec St traffic from Chinatown, Gastown and Olympic Village easier access to the rest of the city.

After spending $$ Billions $$ on the Olympic Village and the BCPlace roof, its unlikely anyone could build a bridge through them & over False Creek to Robson St.

Hmmm ....
Kingsway Tunnel perhaps?

The Kingsway connector project is now dead as of last fall. The recently released Mount Pleasant Plan killed it permanently. A shame really as it would've allowed Main st North of Kingsway to become more like Main St is South of Kingsway.
It would've affect te viaduct talks by allowing the removing of the Main St on/off ramps completely and having the new Quebec St traffic connect to the viaducts with ramps along Pacific and Expo instead.

I noticed how the CPR tracks on Arbutus St and False Creek nicely show the ROW that the City wants to use for their Downtown and False Creek streetcar.

It appears Bartholomew thought BCElectric would need a new interurban terminal - roughly where the International Village is today.

Its amazing to see that 80 years ago someone was already thinking of reshaping the north shore of False Creek with new roads connecting Pacific @ Seymour with Carrall @ Pender. More than likely it would still be industrial lands.

Even though nothing came of these plans (I blame the Great Depression), it still took Expo 86 (sixty years after these plans were made) to re-develop these lands from Industrial to Residential.

Looking at some of the major intersections they all appear to be traffic circles.

Here's the mural, I think it's in North Van, showing the first arrival of the white man.

It looks like there is a small connection there, but False Creek went out to where Clark Drive now is back then.
