I don't see their lame little angled sign in the rendering anywhere. Unless that's too hard for big box architects to do.

^^ Some of the signs in the rendering seem strange, ie: in the top middle, it looks like there is a Bob Evans resto (I don't believe they are in Canada),

A Best Buy is also going up on the east mountain. I don't think that one will be coming to the Centre Mall.

DC83, the first building you thought may look like a Bob Evans is actually the Food Court building. The other rendering you thought may be a McDonald's is actually the CIBC.

whats the building at Ottawa and Barton behind the Beer Store??

Also, the CIBC has a drive thru lane next to the Barton St sidewalk too. Yea, really pedestrian-oriented to the street.

This is so disappointing when you consider what could have been done here. This part of the city is so walkable, they have thousands of consumers within walking distance, but many will be compelled to drive from store to store by the stupid pedestrian unfriendly layout.

RTH the building at the corner of Ottawa and Barton is not indicated on the plans - it does carry the colour scheme for Future Shop, but that's pure speculation. It would be a good spot for a Michael's or Fabricland.

My predictions on the upcoming announcement of category killers for Centre Mall:

Future Shop/Best Buy (I suspect Future Shop, with Barton/Centennial FS closing and becoming Best Buy at Centennial and QEW)
Staples/Business Depot
Toys R Us
Indigo/Pistachio

It won't be a Best Buy, I mentioned months ago Best Buy wanted a downtown or East end location, they already got a spot.

by the way, my inside sources tell me that the following will be coming here:

Dollarama
Pizza Pizza
A movie store
Shoppers
A pet store
Hortons

My inside sources, of course, are my own observations of every other friggin box centre that's been built in southern Ontario.

I'd nix Toys R Us, and Indigo. I don't think either will happen, I just can't see it.

There's a Staples on Barton at Centennial Parkway, so I could see them closing that store and relocating to Centre Mall.

Yeah, I'd vote FS over Best Buy as well.

HAHAHA I know, right. I often get big blue boxes mixed with big off-white boxes myself haha

FS wont close its Q&C location as it recently reno'd. Staples, hell ya. The one @ Barton & Centennial is so dated and akwardly positioned.

My predictions: It's going to be the same stores as what's their now (with the exception of the Lob. Super Str added as the 'destination store'). There will be no other 'destination strs'

Ottawa St will continue to do well, Kenilworth Ave will continue it's decline.
When the project first started, I had faith that the development would help Kenilworth... but seeing as this new Centre Mall is based around vehicles rather than pedestrians, it will be the same people driving down and past Kenilworth ignoring it's potential as per the last several decades.

This was a chance to bring back some of the vibrancy to this part of town, but once again we sell the farm so a few rich dudes in TO can make a buck off us.
Council also carries some blame for allowing such short-sighted crap.

Correction - The building at Barton and Ottawa next to the Beer Store is a bank. Initially marked as CIBC site but I believe it is now Scotiabank here.

The property's owned by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. It is part of the portfolio that funds the Canada Pension Plan.

Except for Sears, any of the stores/food places/banks/medical, that are still in the mall now will have locations in the new place.

I think a Futureshop for this site is very likely, but I don't see the one at Barton/Centennial closing. It's a fairly new store. I could maybe see it switching over to a Best Buy though.

Indigo is a long shot. They'd be putting one in at Meadowlands way before considering an inner city location. I'd go as far as saying downtown has a better shot than Centre.
