That's one of the sites I wish they had put at least a 15 or 20-story building there. Oh well, it'll be nice anyway.

yea, I can agree with that but beggars can't be choosers. We've been waiting for the city/crown center to do something with that lot for 30-something years. This isn't a bad looking project and i'm glad to get 400 more residents to that area.

I forgot to post this here a few weeks back but here is a 14 story tower that is attempting to get pushed through approval a few blocks away from that.

Another project on Troost - but this one is a lot farther south than the ones mentioned above. This is close to Rockhurst University. Looks like it'll be here - but there are some streetside retail buildings on either side I hope aren't demolished for the project.

Troost Avenue in central Kansas City, an area known for its history of neglect, continued on a run of new investment when a $4 million apartment project won early approval at City Hall on Tuesday.

UC-B Properties, a prolific real estate firm in Kansas City, proposed what it is calling Scholar’s Row at 55th and Troost. The project is a 50-unit apartment project located on the west side of Troost Avenue between 55th and 56th streets.

In Kansas City, Barbecue, Beer and Bargains

I had just learned my first lesson of Kansas City barbecue the hard way: Don’t just waltz right in at closing time expecting to be served. In my defense, I was coming pretty much directly from Kansas City International Airport, where I had landed on a Saturday night. I checked into my hotel, on the downtown Missouri side, and quickly crossed olkayser to Kansas to Slap’s BBQ, which I had heard good things about. And while I arrived well before closing time, a sign greeted my arrival that clearly stated that they were open until 8 p.m. — or when they sold out, whichever came first. It had come first. I slunk back to Missouri.

While I'm definitely not opposed to putting something like that in the RM, I wonder how it will be received by others. The tower will be much higher than anything else around there, and with all the glass, it will be very non-conforming, although they built that building on the corner of Wyandotte and 3rd street, and it doesn't look too bad over there considering it's nearly all glass.
