Swire Hires New VP To Oversee ‘Nearly 1,000-Foot-Tall’ Office Tower (& Other Projects)

March 29, 2023

Quote:
The US arm of Swire Properties has announced the hiring of a new executive to oversee a “robust pipeline of new projects” planned by the company.

Kevin Davenport was hired by the company as Senior Vice President, Development, a press release said.

“Swire has played a crucial role in the transformation of Miami into the foremost destination for real estate development in South Florida and nationally,” Davenport said.

Davenport has 15 years of experience in property development and was previously Senior Vice President of Development at Brookfield Properties in New York.

Among the project to be overseen by Davenport will be One Brickell City Centre.

Groundbreaking for the office tower is planned for later this year, the company said today.

Davenport will also oversee residential development planned by the company, the release said.

One Brickell City Centre will be a “nearly 1,000-foot-tall Class A office building,” with the largest floor plates ever approved in the City of Miami, according to the release.

Demolition begins on Brickell site for what will be tallest commercial building in Florida
The tallest commercial building in the entire state of Florida is coming to Brickell.

Before construction of the new One Brickell City Centre can officially get underway, demolition crews first need to do their work.

The new 1,000-foot-tall super tower will be right at the corner of Brickell Avenue and Southeast 7th Street.

It is a collaboration between Swire properties, the same group that created Brickell City Centre, and Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross’ Related Companies.

Interesting that this was not just a demolition but a ceremonial groundbreaking with much pomp. Either it’s just a big PR splash or the developers have tenants lining up.

Pretty crazy - and awesome - to think that we may very well have two supertalls under construction simultaneously in Miami.

At least one of the supertall skyscrapers is planned to possibly have an observation deck open to the public near the top. This is different from the cancelled SkyRise Miami observation tower project.

So what IS the height if it is, ‘Nearly 1,000-Foot-Tall’.

The header still says 1,040'. Should it be changed to reflect the real height under 1,000' tall?

Nobody is sure yet, most sources still say it'll be the tallest building in Miami as well as having renderings indicating a supertall. We'll have to wait for drawings.

A ceremony was held last week at the One Brickell City Centre supertall site to mark the start of demolition, according to a press release.

I’m guessing no taller than and possibly shorter.

Nice, not quite supertall but it will be the tallest office tower in the city, and one of the taller in the US outside NY and Chicago.

It has a helipad too, I dig it.
