Well some people never mastered Grade 1 English class though. Aren't the basics of what sounds letters make covered in that grade?

If there's one thing I've learned from SSP, it's that Ontario is pretty cool and all of the places I had never even heard of before (basically everything but TO, Ottawa) aren't boonies in the way we think of them here.

I've been impressed with everything, from Hamilton, to Paris, ON.
Considering Hamilton has more people than Newfoundland I'm not sure how Newfoundlanders could think of it as the boonies.

Even if it only shows a small part of the neighbourhood, the picture covers ~4km2, pop ~40k .

Sherbrooke at noon today. In the background, you can see Le VÜ (which is under construction) as well as the recently built Cité du Parc (on the right). Keep in mind that another project might rise on the left in the future (see my render here).

In the foreground, you can see the Marché de la Gare, a derelict CP railway station that was converted into a public market a few years ago. A lot of people were there today since it was possible to purchase several products at their 1900 prices. And since pennies have been discontinuated, buying 100g of cheddar was... free.

The Magog river's illuminated path. Remember that this is in downtown Sherbrooke. When you walk there, it's mindblowing to imagine that you're just a few meters away from the urban vibe.

On another side, note that you can see some Japanese knotweed (one of the world's worst invasive species) just below the footbridge.

I know! I'm not sure how to express myself.

I think most people here have no idea that places like Kitchener-Waterloo exist. And I think even those who know about these cities imagine them to be similar to Mississauga, very suburban, car-oriented, etc. Mount Pearl with tall buildings, basically.

I think you could shock most people here with the photos from the last few pages.

That looks/sounds great, would be interesting to walk the Magog river path as you describe. 🌿

yes, a lot of urban areas in Ontario fall off the radar..Both Oshawa's and St. Catherines Cma's are something like 400,000 each, and both aren't exactly household names...Northern Ontario itself has little regional meccas...I've never been to Thunder Bay, but I know that Sudbury is a fairly busy hub for it's size. it's "the city" for that region and services something like 500,000 people if you include all of North Eastern Ontario who's residents make weekly pilgrimages to Sudbury for the Costco and major chains not found anywhere else in the North...

For the record Waterloo Region also has more people than Newfoundland

I definitely agree with you though, I feel like the biggest cities kind of hog the spotlight when there are some really great places in between from coast to coast.

This'd be a cool thing for you to check out and photograph in Copenhagen, Kool:

The first component for the Hebron Gravity Based Structure is just about ready for shipment to Bull Arm. If I'm right, this ship is here to pick it up from the orange building on the right. This will be the first manufatured product to be shipped out of here since 2005 when we still made paper.

And a nice view looking back toward town along a salt water swimming channel (this is an abandoned campground so nobody swims here, the water is kind of gross with algae)

And one of mine - I love the way they have repainted the old wall signs and added fire escapes to that side of the Tannery complex. It adds a nice bit of texture, imo.
