They're definitely adding 0's lol. Thanks for clarifying.

I remember someone mentioned this proposal awhile ago but never got to see renders. Looks like it will go well with the area.

I heard the new owner of the Sandwich shoreline property at 75 Mill st. will be proposing a 15 storey residential tower (max height allowed for the property).

Next to the RCMP dock?

I know there's a 14 story building that was announced seemingly forever ago on Sandwhich street at the old Rum Runners lot next to the Tim Hortons.

I'd be amazed to see something like that put on that property

That whole area of the city and Tecumseh will really look different once they start building everything. With all of the growth happening in the region, it should build up fairly quickly once all of the red tape is out of the way.

Drove down Ouellette yesterday and noticed a sign on the empty lot next to the Cooks Shop, where the old Vanity Theatre burned down, that said a new condo development is coming soon. I’m very curious to see how large a development they are planning, and what it will look like.
Very happy to see more more proposals coming to the DT core, especially on Ouellette.

Is that across from Bull n Barrel? I like how the city narrowed the street there and added a pedestrian crossing to calm traffic. Did you happen to see a developers name on the sign?

Yes, across the street from the Bull and Barrel. I didn’t see a name on the sign, as we were driving bye. I’ll look a little closer next time I go by there.

That's interesting. How serious is this? Is there money behind it? (I only glanced at the link, so I apologize if that info is there)

How much cross-border commuting happens these days? I had a great aunt who lived in Windsor but worked as a nurse in a Detroit hospital. This was long, long ago, but I believe she used to take a bus via the tunnel. Is there still a bus service between the cities?

yes the tunnel bus service that runs a loop from the Windsor downtown bus terminal through downtown Detroit has finally returned.
Direct sporting event services are due to return some time soon as well.

The Windsor/Detroit Tunnel is also claiming to have returned to pre-pandemic traffic levels

It's been proposed in the past but the problem has always been land acquisition on both sides, not funding.

The Ambassador bridge co. puts their daily commuters at 40,000. As for the tunnel I am not sure. Transit Windsor still runs the tunnel bus back and forth.

Is there a strong enough business case for it? Land acquisition is one thing, but if a bus is the easier (and cheaper) choice, then that makes this kind of idea difficult to sell.

Personally, I think these concepts make a lot of sense in many cases. Cheaper and less infrastructure-intensive when there's enough demand for travel. But they have to be considered case by case.

There have been gondola proposals that have come and gone for as long as I can remember. One big sticking point is how customs offices would be incorporated. I'd love to see it happen especially now that Detroit has the Q-Line which gives easy connections to the stadiums and midtown.

That would be a great addition, especially given the streetscape improvements and traffic calming. Have any proposals to city hall come through for this spot yet?
