There’s not gonna be nothing built downtown core the next hundred years
My friend lives down there and the counsellor in charge of the area so he wants the whole area to go to hell he doesn’t want any new developments downtown and those were his exact words, vote the batch out

This is a lie. A boldface lie and frankly, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Councilor Stevens is very pro downtown development.

I was curious if that was getting torn down or sold. I'm not sure how much of the land is owned by the school board. Often school are right next to parks so the land available to redevelop is not as big as it might seem. Looking at the land parcels map, the school appears to have encompassed the entire area.

But then I remembered there was a land trade involved for the joint school parking. So the city gets some of the St Pius property. https://leaderpost.com/news/local-ne...n-kinsmen-park

Your right nothing has changed downtown in the last 13 years , The famous ATL hotel every one mentions , a few years back they looked at downtown Regina but never acted on anything stating there wasn’t enough land downtown and the city never pursued it so there you go there are multiple development proposals that they just threw in the garbage

Another Popeyes is going in on Rochdale beside the A&W. Is it that popular for us to have 5 of them? I keep meaning to try it some time but its never on my mental radar when I'm hungry.

I like their tenders and chicken sandwiches. I've never actually had their actual pieces of chicken.

I love Popeyes tenders, blackened ranch sauce to die for..I couldn't understand why one wasent built in the north end earlier, you literally have to drive to the one on Albert Street for the north end. If I was into running business, I would have invested in a north end location my self long time ago. Will absolutely crush it

“The Downtown Welcome Services Pavillion on the west end of Pat Fiacco Plaza will be converted into a permanent downtown washroom.

Here are few more details regarding this project:

The services currently in the Downtown Welcome Services Pavillion will move to the Pat Fiacco Rink Shack, which will become a permanent facility located on the existing foundation, on the east end of the Plaza.

Regina Downtown Business Improvement District will turn the Pavillion over to the City of Regina in mid-October.

The Pavillion will then be converted into a permanent all-gender, accessible washroom, including space for on-site security or another agency who can provide supervision during operating hours.

Permanent washrooom construction is expected to be complete in late-December, depending on contractor availability.” - Councillor Andrew Stevens Facebook

On-site security? Is that 24/7? That would be about $500K per year.

Also does this mean Vic Park is going to be full of campers? Is that a good idea?

It's already pretty much that. Saw the usual people walking between the fencing and the demolition site yesterday morning.

Downtown is an incredibly crappy place these days. Good luck getting anyone wanting to visit the area if they aren't there for work.

There was a glimmer of decent things happening in the core prior to covid hitting the downtown around March 2020. I think we're going to see at least a decade of more decay before anything starts to really change.
