I full agree truly good things

Unless your talking about in plan where each building section steps back from the middle.

NYguy - Thanks for being on the ground and doing the good work!
As you walk around the site, can you tell where the elevator banks are going to be? There don't seem to be any obvious openings in the decking of the tabletop.

I’m a little surprised to see the zigzag/stepped nature of the steel on the north side above the tabletop. I figured it would match the profile of the tabletop. Could be an interesting transition right there.

I wonder if there will be a mini-Met/grand staircase on Park.

It looks like there will be a lot of trees on 47th and 48th.

That’s always been the plan, though slightly different from this early graphic of how the tower would unfold…

Here's the diagram for the tabletop itself, showing the openings for the elevators and column placements for the tower itself. Judging by NYGuy's photos (particularly No. 27), there seems to be steel framing the openings but the holes themselves seem to be covered by some kind of sheeting.

Thanks guys Maybe it would be a fair match if only the developers/architects would release any renderings at all!

They seem intent on not releasing anything, and the city is going right along with it. Perhaps sometime before it’s topped out, JP Morgan Chase will see fit to give us a rendering of what’s replacing the 700 ft tower they took down.

In the meantime, we’re left with other developers giving us their interpretation of what may rise. This particular rendering just has the old massing…

Can someone explain how air rights work? If I own a 200 foot by 200 foot square. Why can I build a 2000 foot tower on it?

A little poem for the holiday...

A Visit From Dimon

It was on the night before Christmas,
outside the new headquarters of Chase.
Not a rendering could be found;
No, not even a trace.

New Yorkers had wondered,
why the old one came down.
But let's face it, it didn't cut it,
in this cutting-edge town.

From a tower above,
looked down Jamie Dimon.
Why, what else would he build,
but a tower with diamonds?

He had but to choose,
from his architects roster.
And it would be none other
than the famous Lord Foster.

When a rendering would surface,
was anyone's guess.
But it would be a world class tower.
New York demanded no less.

So take heart skyline fans,
as this new tower rises.
Afterall, this town
is just full of surprises.

And the days will pas by
until the building is complete.
Then we will all think, "Oh my!
That new tower is sweet!"

A beautiful poem NYGuy; thank you for documenting this mysterious tower as it unfolds, and a merry Christmas to all!
