My guess is that changes to malls (even major) in Toronto or Ottawa are not big cross-Canada news.

It is more likely that it is a big U.S. retailer like Nordstrom's that is coming to Canada.

Well contrary to how it might seem in the "canada" section of SSP, there is much more to Canada than Toronto so no, my news is much more national than your guesses.

Also the announcement is likely to be delayed a bit. Just a couple small unforeseen snags.

I thought Brampton was getting an entire new mall?

My guess: Nordstrom is buying Sears (or its leases) and will open in places such as Sherway.

Isn't Nordstrom a bit upscale for a wide scale presence in Canada? I'd say Macy's would be more successful here than Nordstrom.

Nordstrom isn't that high end, its nothing like bliomingdals or holt renfrew, more like the bay or macys, some of the flagship have some high end brands but mist if the mall stores aren't that fancy

Well that just goes to show how much I know. The only one I've even been in is The Bay, and I don't think I actually bought anything.

Well SpongeG isn't necessarily correct. Nordstroms definitely maintains a position between the Bay and Holts.

It isn't quite Holts but it is much more high end than the Bay. Even with the Bays recent rejuvenation in their urban stores.

I'd like to know as well!! Maybe Simons expanding throughout Canada? Or maybe a popular US retailer (think Maceys, JCPenney, Kohls). I don't think Nordstrom would do well, as that brand is virtually unknown in Canada.

Maybe Barney's or Saks will be opening. That might be cool. Saks has some nice stuff, although I personally find them a bit pricey. There was a special recently through my Amex Platinum, that you could shop online at various US retailers and pay only $10 as a flat shipping fee no matter how much you bought. I browsed through the Saks website, but most of the stuff was just way more $$ than I wanted to spend.

Although any Canadian location would no doubt make the US prices look like a steal.

Nope, I guess I didn't!
Between this forum and my 30-40 emails per day, I guess I'm starting to become a really bad skimmer.

Looking forward to hearing what the news is though!
