What's your preferred arrangement? Two way on one side of the street or one way parking protected on each side? Or something else? (two way on each side?? A boy can dream...) Personally, I wouldn't hate two way lanes in the median but it feels like the most engineered solution, which typically ends up being the least neighborhood friendly.

Something really needs to be done though. It's obviously just confirmation bias (it's on my mind so I'm noticing it more) but I swear cycling traffic on Spring Garden has picked up in the past month. Every time I cross at 15th or 16th, I see cyclists going by. Last week I saw 6 cyclists at a stop light that were clearly not in a group together. That would triple if we had proper protected lanes.

I just walked on Spring Garden from 19th to 2nd street last week. The sidewalks have deteriorated like crazy. I look forward to the repaving of the sidewalks as well. Hopefully they are maintained after the project!

The current plan seems to me the best realistic option. Two-way on one side is a close second but I think one-way on each side allows you to visit businesses easier. I'd be happy with either layout though. I currently avoid SG because you're in the door zone the entire time and cars will turn right without looking way too often. I feel far safer taking a one-lane street like Brandywine or Green and taking the lane. I really cannot wait for this to get done.

On a side note, it's funny to me when people oppose bike infrastructure because it'll somehow make traffic worse. As if forcing people off bikes and into cars makes traffic... better? If you want less traffic, build bike infrastructure so that the 60% aggregate of people in Philly that say they'd be interested in cycling if there was safe infrastructure stay out of their cars, leaving more space for the people that want to drive.

Philadelphia Ballet Building Delayed

https://www.inquirer.com/arts/philad...-20230829.html

Construction now "hope[d]" to begin in October 2023, more than year after last September's ground breaking. Looks like the lot is still be used for parking/staging for the apartment building nearing completion on 1300 block of Callowhill Street.

I keep seeing different completion dates. I emailed 95revive and this is what they wrote:

"Physical work on the I-95 CAP project at Penn's Landing is still scheduled to be completed by late 2026 or early 2027. There is a "plant establishment period" for the landscaping which will extend the contract for two years following physical work."

haha yea I'm not holding my breath for 2025 but SURELY there are some ppl putting the pressure on before the festivities of 2026. Maybe Shapiro will help push this along given the apathy of the mayors office/city council

Curious how they're going to fit this building on this site as it's rather small, but 35 units coming to 101 Market St. But all for increasing the density in this part of town.

That end date is not consistent with anything I have seen or reality. Not sure where they got that.

That makes much more sense- from what I recall the length of the construction contracts were like 6 or 7 years. Granted, NTP was issued a long time ago so we are probably close to a year in on the timeline.

Once again, since this has a highrise component, this is to be posted in the HIGHRISE thread, not the lowrise/general development thread.

The Linden

Would appreciate an update on a project under construction at 4224 Baltimore Ave. recently called "The Linden." Six stories 132 (?) units.

So the cap is going to start construction soon hopefully, But what about the new bridge over Delaware Ave? I think it connects to South Street. That's one of the bridges. I'm really looking forward to that and the new cable stayed with the Schuylkill River trail.
I feel as though it would start at the same time as the cap right?

It's insane how much development is happening in Fishtown and Northers Liberties. Thanks, Tony.
