Went through Hintonburg a few days ago and noticed that the Eddy Condo is finally filling the bottom front corner retail unit. A huge vinyl sign in the window says it will be Les Moulins La Fayette, a french bakery. Most of the company's other locations reside in various locales in Quebec, but there is also one in Miami Beach.

There used to be one at Les Galeries de Hull but I think it has closed and become something else (Marché Wakim?). That shopping centre has fallen on hard times extremely quickly in recent months with the closure of Sears. It used to be a very dynamic and fairly attractive small-scale shopping mall.

Galerie de Hull is prime for redevelopment. The views alone justify a premium price for condos or rentals.

FYI for fans of Lebanese and Middle Eastern food: Marché Adonis will be opening in Gatineau in about a week's time. Around mid-month they say.

A building permit has been issued for Giant Tiger at 1021 St Laurent. Either the old Metro space or the old Zellers/Target space...Guessing the Metro space based on size.

Strange how Montreal and Toronto are booming, while Ottawa is strolling along.

That's funny - I drove by about two weeks ago and it crossed my mind that this would be a good location for a Giant Tiger - I couldn't bring to mind any nearby locations.

They used to have one at shopper's city east. While many of the tenants of that complex were soaked up by Gloucester centre and the odd one like staples moved to St Laurent and Donald, to my knowledge the Giant Tiger simply just closed.

Mamie Clafoutis is opening a store in Westboro at the corner of Richmond and Roosevelt (former American Apparel store then UpperWest sales office). Nice to see more food shops in the neighbourhood, especially a proper bakery.

Interesting how Westboro seems like a "landing strip" for many Montreal/Quebec urbanite chains these days.

Chez Francois will have some competition.

That's a great spot for a Giant Tiger, there is a tonne of low income housing around there. It will do well. The Dollarama in the next plaza is always busy.

A DHL store is opening up in the retail bay at the Telus Tower on the corner of Slater and bank. This seems to be first retail location in the city for DHL. For comparison, there's 3 in downtown montreal.

I've noticed a Maserati Levante and an Alfa Romeo Stelvio parked outside the old Caron's Body Shop building that seems to have been absorbed into the huge Mark Motors property on Montreal Rd at St. Laurent. And the old Bank of Montreal building on the corner is actively being renovated. Are we about to see a dedicated Mark Motors Alfa Romeo/Maserati dealership open up there?

Interesting if so! I am unsure who owns in but I thought it was Mark Motors Group but the Audi dealership on Hunt Club is moving slightly east by the Humane Society which will free up the current Audi dealership for a Maserati / Alfa Romeo dealership according to the rumours and rumblings I have heard around town.

I haven't heard any rumours, but I'd have to guess that it's their new West Ottawa Jaguar/Land Rover dealership that will be going into the Hunt Club location.

That makes way more sense! Thank you for sharing that with me!

Funny. About an hour after reading this, I saw a DHL truck for the first time in my life at the corner of Bank and Somerset.
