This is exciting to see, it's miles better than the original design. I hope it comes to fruition and they can build a twin on the other lot across the street.

It’s about time these waterfront empty lots are developed, such a great location and the perfect time for intensification with the shortage of housing. Hopefully the other 3 Riverside Dr. lots will get some proposals as well.

Riverside Dr. along downtown should look like it does across from Coventry Gardens on the east side, lots of nice condo towers across from a stunning waterfront park system.

I noticed in these photos Janette has essentially been cut off from Riverside drive. The article says the adjacent property across Janette may be developed in the future though.

You're right, that's interesting to note. What it looks like they might want to do is turn Janette into a cul-de-sac that would service the two buildings, with a little common plaza area where the Janette currently connects with Riverside.

Either way, I doubt it would be a huge deal considering Caron and Bruce are so close by for access to Riverside.

This looks like a really cool proposal! I feel like I remember Farhi proposing this sometime in 2018 or so as well. These renderings seem a little more "official" which is nice

I'm wondering if he's waiting to see how the Hive does before pulling the trigger? Last I heard it was over 50% leased with a commercial unit leased as well. His other project on Lauzon at the old trim plant seems to have done well and I think this is a great location too. I guess we'll see in the coming months!

Farhi Holdings to build 28-storey riverfront apartment tower

The proposed 166-unit structure will be located on the west-side corner of Riverside and Janette Avenue with hopes construction can begin by next summer pending final approvals from the city, said Jim Bujouves, president of Farhi Developments.

“We are very excited,” he said on Friday. “We recognize the investments the city has made in the downtown core in the area of the art gallery and aquatic centre, plus what the University of Windsor and St. Clair College have done.

“We are participating in the catalyst to draw residents and young professionals to live and work in downtown Windsor.”

The proposed apartment tower — to be constructed by Farhi Holdings at an early estimated cost of over $60 million — will have an equal mix of one- and two-bedroom rental units ranging in size between 700 and 1,200 square feet.

This looks to be a pretty big development with five 6 story buildings on the property purchased next to Fogular Furlan club.

Wow, that looks like some great infill! Haven't seen anything in the paper about this (I could have missed it though ) I wonder if it's still working its way through the re-zoning process? Regardless, still a really great infill proposal

Farhis waterfront tower has now shown up in the applications process on the City Of Windsors development site.

A step in the right direction for sure and helpful in easing the minds of doubters (like myself depending on the day lol) for some of these projects that we've been told are coming ( I'm looking at you Inspiration Tower)

Wow, that definitely is a great step. Looks like a lot of other docs on there as well (transportation impact, stormwater management, etc.) which I think show it as a better step since those take time to create. Hopefully we'll see this move forward, although that seems like a really excessive amount of parking for the building to add an extra surface lot, especially if it's downtown

Also, Riverside infill nearing completion on Wyandotte! Loft 6550 is just about done from what I can see passing by on the way to work. Same with the development closer to downtown on Wyandotte between Marentette and Parent

Another quick update: looks like another renovation is happening to a downtown building! The Bartlet Building (northeast corner of University Ave W and Pelissier St) is undergoing renovations. Didn't hear anything about this, but really happy to see another downtown building get re-activated! If anyone has more details about this please let me know, I'm curious what the plan is! I believe there is potentially a cafe going in on the main level, but not 100% sure

I love seeing these downtown buildings being brought up to date and back to life.

I can't seem to find any kind of updates on the Metropolitan building or the Canada Building that have been under going retrofitting that started just before the pandemic hit and slowed things down.

Those would be awesome to get an update on.

I agree! They have some great character on the exterior.

As for updates, I'm downtown a couple days a week and it looks like construction on the Canada Building is still ongoing from what I can tell. I think most of it is interior renovations at this point so it's a bit harder to tell from the street-level.

The Security Building has had its ground-level renovations completed for a while now (where Le Vern's Market is), although not sure on the upper levels, most likely interior work as well.

As for the Metropolitan building, I believe I saw some renovations happening on the ground level, again mostly interior but I could make out a bunch of equipment in there through the window. Not sure if anyone knows what might be going on there?
