Yeah, there's a bit of an uproar about the lease being terminated. I was a bit puzzled by that public access reference too.
Last time I was there was in the 90s and I thought that the Firm bought all the lawyers memberships (we each had a card).
It was a common event venue for seminars and talks. Litigators would be more apt to have lunch there.
I think the public aspect may be for special event bookings.

Judging from the menu, which admittedly is only for breakfast and lunch, I don't think anything of significance is being lost..

This looks really nice / elegant from the outside and they've built an fenced-in patio at the back off the alley.

Menya Itto to open first North American location in Vancouver

Popular Tokyo-born ramen shop Menya Itto is officially opening its first North American location in Vancouver.

The brand’s first outpost on the continent will be opening at 1479 Robson Street, the former location of Ramen Koika.

Known as “The King of Tsukemen,” Menya Itto was created by Yukihiko Sakamoto. Menya is said to have a “unique style” of lighter ramen full of rich flavour.

I understand the tendon reference, but for the uninitiated, there's no tendons present.

Tendon is a Japanese traditional donburi dish which consists a bowl of rice tooped with tempura. Tempura is a dish of deep fried shrimp, fish and vegetables. Tendon's "ten" means tempura, "don" means donburi which is rice bowl. Tendon is an abbreviation for Tenmura-don, but it is popularly called by Tendon.

VANCOUVER -- Health officials have temporarily closed two adjoining restaurants in Vancouver's West End over several alleged violations of provincial COVID-19 orders.

Closure orders have been posted outside the Babylon Café and at Babylon Restaurant and Bar, two busy Denman Street establishments that share an owner.

The orders show inspectors from Vancouver Coastal Health visited the restaurants a total of 11 times combined between June 4 and Sept. 4, and found several problems that weren't properly addressed.

"Nightclubs and stand-alone banquet halls have been ordered to shut down, effective immediately, while bars and restaurants must stop serving alcohol at 10 p.m. and close by 11 p.m. unless they're still providing full meal service."

I went by on the bus today and had a good look. Both establishments we're OPEN! As per their flashing sign... OPEN! The takeout side and the restaurant side... OPEN!

Customers inside and outside but they didn't seem to be clustered.

The closure was probly just for a day.

People in the restaurant and bar industry are fighting for survival right now, so I understand if they are bending the rules.

There's a difference between bending rules and just totally pretending we aren't in a pandemic.

Philipine chain Potato Corner has opened on Kingsway in Vancouver, next to Maxs if you know that Filipino restaurant and will open at Surrey Central as well. There first Canadian stores opened last year in Calgary and Edmonton.

I was driving down kingsway sunday and saw a huge lineup outside it not knowing what it was or why people would be lining up for a potato. But its apparently very popular in the Phillipines.
