One of my WAA contacts told me Porter is getting ready to announce YQR-YYZ in the next day or two. If true, YQR finally joins the Porter family

The Porter announcement should make one_brick_at_a_time very happy as they have been requesting this pairing for quite some time.

LOL apparently THIS was the upcoming announcement, not Porter to YYZ. My info turned out to be Chinese Whispers! Apologies, but good news for Regina anyhow. I still think Porter will be in YQR by next summer.

I wonder if UA YXE-DEN isn't far away. Usually when one Sask city twin gets one flight, the other generally gets that same flight not long after.

Does anyone know how the YQR-MSP flight has been in terms of load factor? Very interested to know if this will be sustained long term.

I can extract it next time the US data is released.

Load factors only give part of the story of viability. Fares are an important part of it - if there’s perpetually readily available cheap seats that ain’t great. And history. YQR-MSP had a decent history of supporting service at 100-150 seats per day.

The wild card is the WS / DL factor. At the moment WS sees feeding DL as a growth opportunity. But they haven’t done a great job of integrating systems or offerings. We’ll see how it sticks long term.

November statistics for MSP flights from Sask.

available seats - passengers flown - load factor

YQR-MSP: 2340 - 2023 - 86.5%
MSP-YQR: 2340 - 1889 - 80.7%
total: 4680 - 3912 - 83.6%

YXE-MSP: 2010 - 1542 - 76.7%
MSP-YXE: 2010 - 1455 - 72.4%
total: 4020 - 2997 - 74.6%

Interesting that the YXE passenger count is lower than YQR. Obviously operating a less extensive schedule with larger airplanes has its limitations on its ability to serve peoples' travel schedules.

With possible USA flight demand softening from Canada, do we think Porter Airlines will divert to some more Canada route priority and announce Regina sometime soon?

I wouldn't hold my breath. The YXE To YYZ is not performing they way they expected/wanted it too.

Flair was the reason they went to YXE vs YQR in the first place.

I heard a rumbling they are contemplating a YQR to YOW flight for later this spring.

I've heard from a credible source that this won't be happening anytime soon. Apparently "YXE-YYZ has too many low periods to consider YQR" anytime soon.

Unfortunate but unsurprising. AC's loyalty program draws a lot of ppl (myself included) and WestJet is a very well known brand to Western Canadians. Porter is really on the outside looking in...
