Nov 10th:

The last Rubrica crane has been removed from the bridge deck.
A blue-and-yellow specialized lifter could previously be spotted hard at work installing the bridge deck segments.
Now that the bridge deck installation is complete, the crane has been disassembled and removed

Now it finally seems that the north approach is actually connected to the main span.
You can also see in the photo that they were placing some of the last remaining concrete panels, so it looks like they’re going to patch up that gap relatively soon.

I didn’t take any photos of the northbound off-ramp to Columbia, but it looked very active, and it appears they recently poured concrete there as well.

Thanks!

From the Project twitter:

In late October, after this precast concrete barrier was installed on the bridge approach in @CityofSurrey , crews placed grout in the anchor bolts block outs.
This barrier will separate pedestrians and cyclists from vehicle traffic.

This photo shows concrete waterproofing underway on the main bridge span in late October.

Once waterproofing is complete, crews will place 2 layers of asphalt before painting lines on the roadway

Attention drivers: The southbound lanes of the Pattullo Bridge will close for three nights this week, as the opening of the new crossing is on the horizon.

The route from New Westminster to Surrey will be closed to traffic, cyclists and pedestrians on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday between 9 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Northbound travel into New Westminster will not be affected by the closures.

“These closures are needed to secure a new overhead directional traffic sign along King George Boulevard. The large sign will be installed over the right lane of the replacement bridge, before the Scott Road exit ramp,” TransLink wrote in a notice.

“Heavy equipment, including a drill rig, will be blocking traffic lanes near the south side of the existing bridge. To ensure public safety, both southbound bridge lanes will need to be closed.”

This is the gap at the south approach of the bridge. I believe it will also require the installation of expansion joints. It’s hard to believe this work could be completed in less than a month…

From the project twitter.

At the end of October, these concrete foundations for light posts were delivered for finishing works in @CityofSurrey
Can you spot the embossed retaining wall in the background?

I figure for along approach roads, not on the bridge.

They are on the larger end of light poles bases for MOT highway projects.

Let the complaints begin!!!

BREAKING... stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge is the new official First Nations language name for the new Pattullo Bridge.

It means Riverview Bridge, with the Pattullo name now being dropped.

From Daily Hive

Aaaaaand there's already comments on Dailyhive from old men complaining about this like the fucking Gestapo are going to show up at their door if they dare say the name Pattullo out loud. Call it Pattullo, call it Riverview, call it by its Halkomelem name. Who cares? Do what you like.
