^yup, love arenas or not, love public funding or not, the investment of ~400/600mil for the arena has let to 2.4 billion of new development in the downtown from roughly that approval. Certainly some would have gone ahead either way, but some certainly would not have nor would it have come this quickly. Not to mention a new tallest west of Toronto, 3million visitors coming to the downtown core annually to support shops, restaurants, bars, hotels etc and a few thousand new permanent downtown residents.

Win win.

The new arena is 4 blocks north from work and 6 blocks NE from home... triangle of death

It's about as tall as The Bow now so they have another 10 - 15 meters to go. That includes the fairly massive rooftop crown feature.
