Great catch. I really hope the residential top section tapers as shown the last slide of the PDF.

There were multiple renderings of the Waterline Phase II project posted in this thread (in 2019 or 2020?). It's not happening anytime soon, but I can repost some renderings if anyone still cares about it.

God I hope so too! That last render angle is my fav for this project. I never noticed how it twists a bit on the resi portion.

Sorry to nag, but the fact that this doesn't have a public observation bar or deck of some kind really bugs me. It touches on a wider issue with dt Austin and how it differs from every other big TX city. We need a place to bring random tourists and locals in to appreciate urbanism / architecture / nature...and the capital dome!

If only we had a monument like Saarinen's Gateway arch. Sorry, I've had too much tea

ps. fuuuuck those old renders are so good. Ugh. Praying we get a smaller twin tower that brings this all together. Maybe slightly different color too...

I'm a little disappointed with the website update and brochure. It seems like they've added some older renderings that don't reflect the current design of the building, such as the taper of the residential section. Additionally some of the images are squished in the brochure.

For example, you can tell this is an outdated rendering from the old podium design:

Wait what taper change is this?

Do we have pics for the comparison?

Question

Does anyone know if the originally planned 2nd building will still be built (at a later date) or has that leg of the project been canceled?

The Waterline developer still owns the site which is hopeful. But there are no plans to start a project anytime soon due to market conditions, and no building permits have been filed. Even if a site plan was filed tomorrow, it would be two years before anything started. In my humble opinion, something will be built maybe in 5+ years.

The SSP diagram on this one is slightly off on floor height, but with the current floor they are pouring this should be just at the half-way point.

Those columns are going to be wild. How tall are they? The elevations are too blurry to read.

I think the mid columns might be slightly smaller since it's only going to be 2 floors, right?

That's one of the things that annoys me with their presentation. Multiple renders showing new and old designs....I still don't know what the taper change is on the residential portion...

To me they look to be 3 stories tall. The completed one further down looks to be two stories. But that is just what I gather from the blueprint that was posted above.

3 and a half floors of the EXTRA tall - next 3 penthouse height office floors - is what I read from the posted drawing. Those are going to be real tall columns.
